Dealing with bad cramps? in Women's Health ·
Hey there! I’m actually wondering about how to get my hands on those prescription tablets myself. Up until now, Neofen was doing the trick, but the last couple of times I took it, it felt like I was swallowing nothing at all😢. With the holidays right around the corner, I really need something with a bit more kick. Is it enough to just call up my GP (or maybe a general practitioner?), or am I going to have to head in for a full check-up first? Help!

I actually just went in with some referrals that were four months old, and they worked perfectly fine. Even my red lab slip was totally accepted, even though it was more than three months old.

Awesome! Thanks so much!
Hey there,

Does anyone know if I need to grab fresh referrals for my new appointments since the old ones expired? Since the previous dates were pushed back, my current paperwork is technically out of date (if I recall correctly, the red ones are only valid for three months?). It feels a bit silly to have everyone rushing back to their doctors just to get new referrals when we couldn't even use the first set during the timeframe they were actually good for.

I honestly thought they were going to give me a call from the hospital.

In my case, they called about one of my tests to say it was canceled. When I asked if I needed to put myself back on the schedule, they just told me they'd reach out—and I haven't heard a peep since. As for my other appointment, nobody even bothered to notify me. I ended up calling them two days before the scheduled time, only to find out everything is being pushed back until this whole epidemic blows over. Then I'll just have to reschedule myself.
Does anyone know how to reschedule an appointment if it was canceled? Can I just go through the regular process again using the same referral?
So, that’s exactly what I tried doing, but it’s been over a week now and I haven't heard a single peep back. I've sent three separate booking requests and nothing—total radio silence. How are you all handling rebooking your appointments?
Hi there,

I’m looking into getting quite a few moles removed just for cosmetic reasons. Since this isn't considered a medical necessity, I won't be able to get a referral from my insurance, so I'm planning to see a private specialist instead. Does anyone know if it's possible to get a referral just for a pathology analysis? It feels way too risky to skip that step, especially since doctors always recommend having every single mole analyzed...
Hey there,

I’d really appreciate some insight if anyone here knows the drill.
So, I started out with a referral for outpatient treatment at a clinic. Now, the specialist has decided I need to move up to day hospital care at that very same facility, and they sent my paperwork over to the American Medical Association. However, the rep at the AMA told me that the specialist actually needs to issue an internal referral based on my original outpatient one. Who’s actually right here? Is it even possible to issue an internal D2 referral based on a D1?

Honestly, I can't help but feel like the goal of this wonderful system is just to keep you running in circles. It feels like every single exam or test results in some clerical oversight on their end, forcing me to make yet another trip to the hospital.👎🙂
How long are doctor referrals valid for? in Health ·
Hey there,

I’ve got a quick question regarding outpatient referrals for specialist visits. If I have a referral for an initial consultation, can that specialist issue me an internal referral for a day surgery or inpatient procedure right then and there? Or am I going to have to circle back to my primary care doctor at the clinic to get a new one approved?
Hey there,

I have a quick question about switching up an appointment—is that even a thing? My grandfather actually scheduled an MRI for his spine about a year ago. Of course, he ended up going to a private clinic because let's face it, expecting someone to wait a whole year is just ridiculous. However, the slot he was originally assigned is coming up this month, but now my grandmother is actually the one who needs the MRI. Do you think they’ll let us swap the appointment to her, or does she also have to sit around for a full year just to qualify for a "free" MRI?
