I’m just going to be shamelessly persistent about this.

Little fly in your underwear. 🙂
We’re going to be playing hits from the "upcoming album"—which, if I'm being honest, is basically the entire thing—along with just a few older tracks (take more pictures, Philip Morris, Liar). It is going to be absolutely killer, man.

With us, you always know exactly what you’re getting into. We decided to scrap those four slowest tracks from the setlist—since we'll most likely be performing without our violinist—so it's going to be nothing but pure hardcore metal hits from here on out. You should definitely come through.
Between breaks from recording new albums and touring with their main outfits—Matthew (my buddy bear), stinger (E.B. & his Heretics), Michael (Backstreet Boys), and Peter (hit me baby one more time)—they’ve managed to pull together a side project called Sons of a Thousand fathers. Much like the name hints at that epic showdown between the blonde and the brute in *The Good, the Bad and the Ugly*, their music captures everything from the vast breath of the desert and the scent of shadows to the gritty tightness of a garage and the raw recovery of urban asphalt. With a handful of covers mixed in with mostly original tracks, they sing and play about nothing else but women, booze, rock and roll, God, the devil, sin, and redemption.

The indie-rock veterans of Marshmallows sound like total rookies—if not even cadets—in their 56th lineup iteration, playing together with the kind of synergy you only get when people have been jamming since they were kids. It’s fresh, yet packed with seasoned, practiced movements. They are professionals, certainly, but more importantly, they are friends. Alongside Matthew, you have Oliver (Cancer Child, City Boy, ex-Vivian Girls) on bass, Lawrence (The Fire Escapes, ex-Casual Elvis, ex-Jennifer's band) on drums, Catherine (wooden Mary, Cancer Child) on violin, and whiskey (pressure sore, ex-Wrapping bitch, ex-Schmrtz theater) handling the synths, harmonica, xylophone, melodica, and even a cheerleader's trumpet. This will be the final public performance for Marshmallows before they finally head into the studio this December to record their long-awaited album—which, by the way, they intend to release without a label, having recently discovered the fascinating new phenomenon known as the internet. The album will be available for free download, and everyone downloading it will be encouraged to illegally pass it along to their friends, acquaintances, and family members. The media will likely go wild calling them the "American Radiohead." Angelo Jurkas will sit down with them for a charming interview at the nuclear waste dump for the Hit Depot. A period of love and prosperity shall follow. Thank you.

'Bright Ideas' is probably the first one that captures that specific vibe so perfectly—but if you really want to dive deep, 'The Summer of The Shark' is even better (I mean, 'Noisy Night' is basically the ultimate anthem, isn't it?), and 'Slow Note fra a Sinking Ship' is also quite beautiful in its own way.

Yesterday, I finally sat down and downloaded 'Bright Ideas'—it’s one of those collections featuring all the demo versions and the tracks that didn't quite make the final cut for the studio album. It’s a fascinating listen, truly. But even after diving through all that material, I still find myself thinking that the absolute standout, the biggest hit by far, remains 'I Want to Know What Love Is.' Which leads me to believe

Oh, please—it’s all part of the grand design, isn't it? "Well, damn it, I missed out on being named one of the top 1,000 most powerful people in America, but no worries—that photo of me and my kid in The New York Times will surely restore my former glory!" Honestly, Matt, how far are you actually willing to go just to grab a little bit of attention?🙄

Congratulations!😘 Honestly, I’ve had this grin plastered on my face since the moment I woke up—it’s almost as if I just knew! Truly wonderful news. 😍
In all seriousness, when I saw you rushing off toward the hospital yesterday, I couldn't help but wonder about this very moment. But even now, I find myself smiling; I have a feeling this is going to be a beautiful day.😍

Exactly. Honestly, there are so many people named John Doe these days that you can't even tell which one is which anymore.😬
Honestly, George is absolutely right—those people are just lost in their own worlds, chasing highs while having no clue what actual, soul-stirring music sounds like.

I actually left Starla off—strictly because I wasn't putting this compilation together for myself, but rather as a gift for a friend. My personal favorites have to be 1, 2, 4, 9, 11 and, of course, Starla.

I'm not feeling it either. Honestly, I’m a bit apprehensive myself. By the way, I recently decided to burn an ultimate homemade Pumpkins compilation for a friend—and well, look at what happened:

Pinkerton!👏 Across The Sea!😍 I can’t claim to be objective here—honestly, how could I? This was one of those rare, beautiful albums I used to spin back in my college dorm days while hanging out with Franca, who was a total punk at heart. It takes me straight back to that era of early Weezer, Jawbreaker, Carter USM, and Protiva otmičar. God, those punk rock days... were they really as good as I remember?🙂

Man, I have to admit—I was there all by myself at that video screening, attending my very first fight at the American Civil Liberties Union. To be honest? Those listening rooms just don't do it for me. They feel a bit hollow, if you know what I mean. Why settle for that when you could have actual live music? Give me something with real energy—like the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival! Or even San Francisco Pride! That’s where the real soul is.

I’m casting my vote for independent list number 3.
CCC, does anyone else actually remember those Offside listening sessions at the Marsh? It was this perfect little hybrid of proposals 2 and 3—before they finally shut us down because the crowds were thinning out, mostly because people just weren't drinking enough.
