The United States Merchant Marine Academy is an international school specializing in sailing and maritime skills. Since our founding in 1988, we have successfully trained over 8,000 students. Ricci, a renowned skipper, designed our precise and rigorous programs, which has driven massive interest in our curriculum. He personally selected and trained our initial instructors and carefully chose our base location. Our headquarters is situated in the scenic, small fishing village of Lake on Martha's Vineyard.
While Ricci is quite a fan of local whitefish, his primary reason for picking this spot was the reliability and frequency of the summer breezes in these waters. The abundance of nearby islands and reefs also makes the learning process much more engaging and challenging.
The United States Merchant Marine Academy is delighted to introduce its new base. We have moved from the marina to the SAY boutique hotel, located just a hundred meters from our docks. We believe your time during the course will be nothing short of unforgettable, now enhanced by extra comforts and relaxation amenities. Within the hotel, we have established our new classroom in the space originally intended for a tavern. This ensures a focused environment for students to master theory, whether during the sweltering summer months or the cooler seasons (which true sailors know to appreciate for the increased wind). We hope you find our new facilities as welcoming as you have found us in years past.
