Need advice on buying a katana in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
Can I get some more detailed instructions on maintenance? What should I be using to clean this thing and what’s the actual process? It’s too expensive an investment to mess up, even if I don't plan on hacking anything with it. 🙂I noticed some Japanese bladesmiths using silk cloths for polishing—is that actually effective or just some traditional ritual?

When choosing, I focused on the "packaging." I figured if German engineering can handle anything, they can handle a katana. For a legitimate piece—something made from real tamahagane—you’re looking at at least $50,000, which is something only my CEO could afford. 🙂It’s gorgeous, sure, but it's nowhere near my budget. It’s strictly a "wishful thinking" kind of item for me. 🙂

Thanks for the input!😉

After weighing all my options, I finally pulled the trigger on this beauty:

Think I made the right call. Can't wait to see it in person today. 😉 Already planning to build a custom display stand out of solid American oak and some high-end stain. 🙂

Gosp kruna is the man. If you're looking to make an investment like this, he's the only one I'd recommend. 🙂

The truth is, you just have to go and see for yourself, but the worst part is getting there 124 miles one way. Just thinking about that coastal highway makes my skin crawl. That’s why I figured I’d ask for some recommendations here.

Has anyone actually used those WKC katanas? I might give kruna a call one day to pressure them a bit, then we'll see what the market looks like. I want something convincing—something that looks powerful and works well enough, even if I don't plan on ever swinging it at anyone. It’s strictly for show, or as they say here in the Midwest, 🙂)

I finally decided to pull the trigger on a long-time dream: owning what I consider the most beautiful katana ever made.

After some digging online, I stumbled upon www.replikart.com, which seems to have some really impressive pieces.

One in particular caught my eye:

as well as

I'm looking for some input regarding the quality and anyone’s experience buying from Replikart. The sword will be purely for display—I've spent enough time in operating rooms to know better than to handle anything sharp.🙂

Thanks in advance for any advice.
