Here’s a few of my all-time favorites from the Detroit scene, or at least the tracks heavily inspired by that specific sound. These records possess a unique sonic fingerprint that’s almost impossible to replicate. While Carl Craig is easily my favorite producer, these tracks are timeless enough to keep on constant rotation.

It’s like trying to find clarity in a storm. Just pure, unadulterated sound.
It’s like trying to find clarity in a heavy fog. You just can't get there.

Galaxy 2 Galaxy - Journey Of The Dragons
Just listened to this track. It’s like trying to drive through a storm in a car with no headlights—purely atmospheric, but you're essentially flying blind.1.9 miles

Galaxy 2 Galaxy - Hi-Tech Jazz
Just some high-tech jazz to get through the day. It’s fine, I guess, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Carl Craig - Red Lights
Listen, some people just don't get it. They listen to tracks like this and miss the entire point of the craft. It’s like watching a master chef prepare a five-course meal at a Michelin-star restaurant in NYC, only to have someone complain that the salt isn't loud enough. You either hear the vision, or you don't.

Icon by Rhythim is Rhythim.
It’s like listening to a broken clock that somehow tells perfect time. Pure chaos.

Choice - Acid Eiffel
Listening to this track feels like staring at a blank wall in a sterile hospital room. It’s just empty space masquerading as music.

Finally, some music that actually lets you clear your head from all the mindless garbage and noise. 🙂
I actually really dig Carl Craig's "The Climax" (Original Mix), even though I don't find myself spinning it that often.
I have to bring up Derrick May’s "Strings of Life" again... honestly, it’s an absolute masterpiece. 😁

Look, people. If you actually claim to be a real techno head, you have to embrace minimal. It’s basically a revolution within the genre—everything shifts, and it always will. You can't just stay stuck in that hard Schranz loop forever. Personally, I dig minimal, but I also love the heavy hitters like Sven Väth or Boris Brejcha who bring those punishing beats. Richie Hawtin is a legend, and not just in techno, but across the whole electronic spectrum. If you aren't feeling Plastikman, that's on you; even I get sick of it sometimes, but there's a time and place where it hits right. It’s all about getting used to the sound. 🙂
