(which honestly drives me crazy 🙂)...
Judging by how you write, I’d guess you’re either a doctor or at least working somewhere close to the medical field.
I can't quite tell if you're coming from a hospital background or private practice, though.
In some perfect, imaginary world, the lady's son would have had every single diagnostic test run the very same day—or at least the next—the moment they suspected something was wrong.
But unfortunately, that's just not how reality works. You've got parents flooding the clinics with kids who have nothing more than a tiny little cough or other nonsense—it's the exact same mess in adult clinics, too—so staff can't actually focus on the cases that matter because they're terrified of getting sued by everyone (whether they're actually sick or not) who needs to be seen.
And in the end, it's the truly sick people who pay the price.
So, my advice to you is this: if you want to demand lightning-fast action from medical professionals, start at the very beginning—with those patients who have absolutely no business being in a hospital but end up clogging things up anyway because of various pressures put on the staff....
Wishing the best to you and your son.
Regarding how serious or urgent this illness actually is—is it safe to assume he was seen by a hematologist? Because hopefully, that specialist actually knows what they're doing...
