Thanks for the answer, you absolute menace... now I actually know what I'm getting into next time.
Since we’re already deep in a discussion about tires, I figured I’d just jump in and ask for some advice—are these Maxxis tires actually any good?
I’ve got an old pump at home that uses a standard Schrader valve; it isn't some shiny new model, but honestly, it works just fine for what I need. I paid $47 for it, and it usually lasts me a good couple of years before giving out. Personally, I think it's much smarter to just grab a cheap adapter rather than shelling out money for a whole new pump every single time... besides, once I have the adapter, I just leave it attached because there's really no reason to take it off. If my tire ever goes flat unexpectedly, I'm right near a Chevron station anyway, so I can just grab the adapter and be done with it!
Look, since I already dealt with those French valves, I just went ahead and picked up an adapter so I wouldn't be forced to buy a whole new pump $33 when I clearly have one sitting right here at home... and honestly, there's no way I'm losing the adapter... it stays attached to the valve unless I specifically go out of my way to strip it off, and even if I did lose it, it’s not like it costs a fortune.

In the span of two—that's two minutes, by the way—you managed to write two posts, fix the valve, and get the tire pumped up perfectly 👍 🙏... I'd say you've got my full recommendation for a mechanic position on the Ferrari crew 😉
Haha, well, what else is a future mechanic supposed to do? You've gotta practice somewhere!
Well, everything worked out perfectly... huge thanks to fadedskipper85!!!!!
Alright... let's give this a shot since I actually have a pump here at home, though it’s just the kind meant for car tires rather than anything specialized.
So, I’ve got a question here, and if anyone actually knows how to fix this, I would be incredibly grateful... basically, my rear tire was running a little low on air, so I headed over to the local Shell station since they have a compressor there. Because I’m running a Presta valve, I brought along an adapter, which is standard enough. But once I get to the pump, unscrew the cap, pop the adapter on, and start pumping, it’s like the air just gets trapped inside the adapter itself or something? It won't go through, and I can't get any more pressure into the tire at all. It's just... stuck. Does anyone have a clue what's going on? Why is this happening to me?
