Honestly, I’m not sweating the budget too much—I know I’ll be looking at somewhere around $3000. My goal is to put together a top-tier beast that’s actually built to last, something that can handle my heavy-duty IT workloads without breaking a sweat. I just want to make sure all these parts I've picked out actually play nice together so I don't run into any annoying compatibility headaches once everything arrives at my door.
And no, I didn't just copy-paste this from somewhere; I've been hand-picking every single component myself from Newegg.
Hey there,
So, I'm planning on building my own PC from scratch—getting all the individual parts and putting them together myself. I'd love to tap into your collective wisdom and experience here to make sure I pick the right stuff and steer clear of any annoying compatibility headaches. Here’s what I’m looking at:
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Maximus Z170 (Socket AM4, 4xDDR4, DisplayPort/DVI/VGA, 1xPCIEX16/1xPCIEX8
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 1700
M.2 SSD: Kingston SSD M.2 G2 SATA, R550/W330, 240GB (Would this actually work with this board, or should I look for something with more bang for my buck?)
RAM: Corsair 2x8GB DDR4 3000 C15, COR-CMK16GX4M2B3C15B
Power Supply: Fortron Raider S PSU 650W, 80+
CPU Cooler: LC Power CPU cooler LC-CC-120 - 120mm Intel/AMD (Honestly, I'm thinking I probably don't need to go the liquid cooling route just yet.)
Graphics Card: EVGA Radeon RX 480 Xtreme 4GB, 4096 MB GDDR5 DVI-I, DisplayPort, HDMI P/N: 04G-P4-3967-KR
UPS: APC BX950U-GR
That's pretty much the whole list! I'm hoping I haven't missed anything obvious. Thanks a ton in advance for the advice and feedback.
Exactly—everything there has 😁

Imagine if one single publisher handled all the Formula 1 coverage across the entire US, Canada, and Mexico—selling the exact same thing, totally fair and square, with unified ads—then we’d actually have something going. But the way it is now? No chance. Any magazine struggling to move maybe 1,000 copies just can't survive—you need to be hitting at least 20,000 to make it worth the effort. That’s where the real game is. Because, get this—if you hit those numbers, advertisers would actually start paying attention since their ads would reach a massive audience. You know what I mean?
I totally get it. It’s a bummer that things aren't regulated properly by law, but honestly, that’s how pretty much everything works in our countries. I know the advertising side of things is a huge headache—looking at Formula 1Racing or EVO, most of those ads are just ripped straight from the British editions, with only a handful being local. As long as things stay this unrealistic, it’s impossible to expect everyone to thrive, both the readers and the publishers. And let’s be real, what are the odds that several publishing houses would actually sit down and strike a deal? Or that one big player would take over the whole region? I just hope they’re working on a permanent fix, rather than just patching things up until next year so we can deal with the same mess all over again. P.S. I’ve got nothing against the British versions or reading in English—I’ve been reading English content for 15 years now anyway. I bet a lot of us fans feel the exact same way.
Honestly, books just don't cut it—we really need a solid monthly magazine that keeps us fed with those exclusive, firsthand scoops. I totally get the drama surrounding NASCARRacing, but man, it would be such a massive bummer if they stopped publishing altogether. When it comes to NASCAR coverage, we don't exactly have a ton of options beyond grabbing NASCARRacing at the local newsstand. If only we had Autosport available too, though even that would probably be tied up with you guys over at Opus, so it’d likely be hanging by a thread anyway. Personally, I don't feel like I'm missing out on extra info as long as I've got NASCARRacing in my hands. Sure, I'm scrolling through news online constantly, but that’s a whole different vibe. The only other thing I pick up is buying books online, but let's be real, that's just not the same thing.
I'm really pulling for a positive outcome regarding the decision to keep NASCARRacing going, but hey, I get it if they decide to pull the plug. At the end of the day, you can't just ignore financial losses—money doesn't grow on trees, after all.
Best,
Michael
When does this year's NASCAR season coverage actually start hitting the stands? Are we looking at March? Also, when does the subscription kick in? I can't quite remember which issue was the last one to show up—I think my last one was from November, or maybe December? After that, I just ended up getting two issues of Eva magazine without any NASCAR included.

Nah, I mean—it just had to play out that way, honestly. He simply didn't have the pace to go any faster. The only move he really had left was to pull some Schumacher-style blocking or try to squeeze Lewis Hamilton off the track.😁 But man, I’d love to get a deeper dive into those specific laps from his perspective.😁
stormyviper11 said:Just wanted to give you guys a heads-up that the latest issue is out, and honestly, I think there's some really cool stuff in here. Since it's a British mag, the big feature is all about the past, present, and—let's be real—the pretty shaky future of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. But we've also got interviews with guys like Lewis Hamilton, Takuma Sato, and Sebastian Vettel, plus this deep dive into how Mario Andretti and Dr. Sebastian Vettel fought tooth and nail to improve safety standards in NASCAR. Oh, and they even threw in some bits about Ferrari...
I reckon even the folks who follow EL might dig this one, especially the gearheads obsessed with the original Mini, since it’s hitting its fifty-year milestone.

Not to brag or anything, but they actually picked my question for Sebastian Vettel! He gave a super detailed answer about how he handles driving in the rain. Pretty stoked about that!😁
Hey, Mr. Jakovlić, listen—EVO is seriously interesting. Honestly, it’s way more exclusive than most other mags out there in this niche. I didn't really pick it up before since F1R was always my go-to, but once these "new" regulations hit, you really have to move fast to get up to speed with how everything is changing. 😉 I'm super happy with EVO; it definitely isn't some unnecessary extra for me. If anything, it’s the perfect supplement to satisfy my massive hunger for all things motorsport and car culture.
Cheers from St. Louis!
My subscription is running a little behind schedule—I haven’t even seen the first issue hit my mailbox yet😢 But hey, no biggie! Once I head back home in a few days, I'll just swing by the local USPS office and check on it; I'm sure it should show up soon enough.
darkmarlin16 said:So, when's the next issue dropping? Is it number 14?🤷
I'm pretty sure Mr. Jakovlić mentioned it would be on the 15th—you know, that first Monday of the month—but hey, who knows!
Raymond Ortiz89 said:Well, go ahead and give it a shot! If it doesn't end up being a month late again, let me know here—I’ll definitely be signing up too.
I actually already subscribed! My magazine gets delivered to my mailbox right near the border, so I just swing by to grab it once a month—it's basically a two-minute trip across the bridge for me. The price is about $113, I think. When I went to swap my cash, I ended up spending 57 miles since the exchange rate was pretty lousy, but hey, it's fine. I've got the next 12 issues lined up, and I pay $0.43 every time I pick up the mail.
Raymond Ortiz89 said:Alright then, give it a shot—if it doesn't end up being delayed by another month, let me know here so I can grab a subscription too!
The sooner, the better. Faster, harder...😁
Raymond Ortiz89 said:you think you can actually subscribe? i thought subscriptions were only for the US
Nah, you totally can subscribe—where'd you get the idea it wasn't an option? It costs a little extra, sure, but it works. I actually gave OPUS a call and they walked me through everything—subscriptions for Canada and Mexico work just fine.
Eric Clark88 said:Honestly, if you're living over in Canada, you might as well just overpay—that way you can actually rest easy knowing your stuff will show up when it's supposed to.
Spot on! That’s actually exactly what I’ve been doing lately—honestly, it feels like the smartest move to make.
stormyviper11 said:Getting the magazine out there isn't even the hardest part—it's actually getting paid for the copies we sell. And look, I'm no expert on logistics, but honestly? I have my doubts that any cash from sales over in Canada even makes its way back to us. It’s all tied up in those messy cross-border payment issues between Canada and the States. Once those financial transfers finally become seamless, we won't have this headache anymore. I'm not sure how other magazines handle their business, but our distributor in Canada decided they’re going to stock last month's issue instead of the new one—probably just some shady accounting move on their end to save a buck.
Is it cool if I drop an email address or the name of our distributor in Canada here? Or maybe just shoot them a private message? I’d really love to pick their brains and maybe offer a few suggestions myself—I'm not one to just sit here making assumptions, you know? Better to just ask them directly and see if they can explain what's actually going on and what their roadmap looks like moving forward.
So, looks like we aren't seeing any new Formula 1 coverage in Canada this year either, which is such a bummer.😢 Seriously though, what’s the actual deal—why can't we get our hands on the latest issue instead of being stuck with one that's basically a month old already?
No way, I’m definitely in—I would literally kill for a decent Formula 1 calendar right about now!🙂 Hajde, just ship it to my place then:😁

I’ve been scrolling through some of the comments lately—honestly, seeing all that negativity aimed at F1Racing's own columnists, that unnamed US executive and that unnamed US person, has me feeling pretty bummed out. I just can't wrap my head around how people are finding so many flaws in them. Look, we're all human—people make mistakes, and let's be real, we all have our favorite drivers over others (we can all agree on that, right?)—but is it really a crime to have a preference? Personally, I just love this sport, and honestly, they can write whatever they want; as long as they're covering my beloved Formula 1, I'm happy. When I see the way you guys are tearing them apart, it feels like maybe you don't actually love racing or Formula 1 that much... it probably just means you aren't super deep into the technical side of things, and in my opinion, it's not really fair to bash articles that you don't fully grasp.
