Now that you mention the drive, it hit me—the disk I use for all my movies is getting pretty cramped. I’ve only got about 15GB left out of 140GB, and I haven't had the energy to move those files over to an external hard drive yet. Could that be what's triggering this error?
Then again, I've definitely run low on space before and the torrenting worked just fine without any drama... I know that's not ideal, but sometimes I'm just too lazy to clear things out.

😲 For what? 🙂
I've got McAfee Antivirus running. I think I'll try swapping in a different driver and see if that does the trick.
I don't have a firewall running.
Honestly, I'm stumped. It's weird because I haven't added anything new to my laptop, moved any files, or changed a single thing lately that could trigger this. It just started popping up out of nowhere.

So, I ran MemTest last night—ran three full passes, which took just over two hours—and didn't see a single error. After that, I updated my network drivers (can't find any specific chipset ones on the manufacturer's site), then tried opening a torrent, and within ten minutes, I hit a Blue Screen of Death. 🤷Got any other ideas?
So, what happens if I actually fail the test? Will upgrading to the latest version of Windows solve the issue?
I'm going to give this another shot tonight. Thanks for all the help so far. 🙂
Maybe I should try updating my drivers before running MemTest? It'll be a quicker fix. 🙂 Then I can fire up a torrent and see if the crashes come back...
Thomas Hernandez21 said:Hmm... Which version of uTorrent are you running? If it's an older build, try updating to the latest one. Also, just to be safe, run memtest86+ and let it go through at least two full passes to rule out a faulty RAM stick.
The version is 2.0.2.
I was reading up on MemTest online; do I need to burn it to a CD and boot from it when I start my laptop? That seems to be the only option I see when I open the file. And how long am I looking at for this thing to actually finish?
I don't get why I'm getting a Blue Screen of death only when the torrent client is active. If there's hardware failing somewhere, why doesn't the system crash when the torrent isn't running?
I finally dug deep enough to find this, and here’s what I’m seeing:
1. The server could not bind to the transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{F3CABE24-B906-4CBA-AC26-0C27E8738325} because another computer on the network has the same name. The server could not start.
2. I've spotted this one in several different places: under the source, it lists atikmdag, and the description says "Display is not active." The task category is listed as DAL. In some instances, it also shows CPLIB.
3. For this specific error, the description reads: The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x100000d1 (0x8c13462b, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x88ee6555). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\Minidump\062510-15132-01.dmp. Report Id: 062510-15132-01.
There are plenty more, but I won't list them all unless it's actually necessary. Most of them fall under example 2.
Nothing much. When I first set up Windows, all the drivers were installed right then and there. This BSOD thing has only been happening for the last few days, and I can't recall installing anything new in the past two weeks—no new software or anything else. It only triggers a restart when I have a torrent client running. Otherwise, it's fine.
I get that "a problem has been detected..." message, followed immediately by this:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
I've got a question...
Over the last few days, my laptop has started restarting out of nowhere. Right before it shuts down, I get this long message on a blue screen. I can barely manage to read what it says before the whole thing cuts out—apparently, it’s doing a forced shutdown to prevent some kind of damage to Windows. I'm sure someone else has dealt with this before and knows exactly what I'm talking about. From what I can tell, it only happens when I have my torrent client running. I tried swapping out the software for a different one, but the same thing happens: the laptop dies shortly after I start a download.
I ran a scan with Norton, but it didn't find a single virus.
Is there any way to actually fix this, or am I looking at a full Windows reinstall?
