About a month later, she went in for her first checkup, and shortly after that, she started taking Yasmin. In the meantime, her Pap smear results came back—everything looks perfectly fine. Honestly, if you just have an open, honest conversation with your partner—and if they’re a responsible person—they’ll follow through without a second thought.
I also make sure to get tested for STIs every single time I have a new partner. And I do it primarily for my own peace of mind.
That is a completely normal, healthy way to handle things. If only more people approached it that way....
Everything mentioned above is absolutely spot on. Honestly, I believe we need to instill this mindset in young women from the start: don't even think about getting intimate without seeing a gynecologist first. In my opinion, many aren't truly prepared to handle the potential consequences that come from acting on impulse. It all starts with a solid foundation at home—healthy communication with your parents is everything—and once that's established, everything else follows. Of course, that eventually leads to the necessity of sexual education, but that’s a whole different conversation entirely.
The reality is, you shouldn't walk into a doctor's office carrying a mountain of judgment—you know, those nagging thoughts like, "What if they think I'm dirty because they find a yeast infection or some bacteria?" or feeling like you'll be stigmatized. Personally, I've never had any major issues aside from some incredibly rough cycles, but even if something *did* pop up, I certainly wouldn't feel like I needed to disappear into thin air.
Maybe I've developed such a balanced perspective simply because my gynecologist and the nursing staff at my clinic have been nothing but wonderful...
It isn’t out of the ordinary at all if you experience some spotting while taking these pills—it happens more often than you'd think, so please, don't panic!🙂

I just took my 4th pill from a brand new pack and decided to quit because I’m honestly feeling pretty terrible—I really thought this new pack would make things better, but no luck... Does this mean I’ll start bleeding again in a few days? And when should I expect my next period to arrive? Has anyone else gone through this???
In my experience, once I stopped taking them, I started bleeding about four days after that last pill—and then my next cycle showed up roughly 20 days after the first one.
