Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
Benjamin King2 said:Try tweaking some services—if you want to get that down to 500 MB, there's a solid guide over at tweakhound.com.

Can we please just settle any future linguistic arguments via PM?

...useful advice,...yeah, I'll tweak it, whatever...
I honestly don't have the energy to go back and forth with them—let them talk to themselves instead..

..man, I really wanted to snap at someone for giving such half-baked advice,
..Service Pack 1 installed just fine, even though it froze up right at the end,
seriously, why is everyone obsessing over Vista? This junk is dragging through my gigabit connection
and while I was busy tweaking Vista settings, I could barely even hit 700 megs..

,..it won't work—tried that fix from Microsoft, but the upload just hangs,
maybe it’s because of that WindowsUpdate_800736B3 mess.. since in
those threads they're all talking about fixes for Windows Update_00000646,
but mine just dies at 35 percent—total freaking nightmare..
It's nothing but tutorials, feels like a complete waste of time—I really wanted to
get this uploaded so I could finally see Service Pack 1 after I reboot..

..I really thought I was finally gonna be done with this headache,..
..that I'd actually be able to jump on the Wi-Fi like my neighbors without worrying
about catching some damn virus..

....Help me out here!!!! It just won't upload—or better yet... when I try to get SP1 installed, I keep getting this "WindowsUpdate_800736B3" and "WindowsUpdate_dt000" error bullshit. What am I supposed to do???

..Just fed up with Windows.,..yeah, that pretty much sums it up..

Big thanks for the reply,

..nothing personal about my last post...just a little rhetorical flair aimed mostly at those aggressive corporations and that bastard Bill Gates—who, if you ask me, doesn't deserve half the credit he gets!..

Keith Bennett38 said:Personally, I think Windows 7 is a solid OS. If you really think it’s garbage, then just go ahead and switch over to Linux. 👍
If you think there aren't any updates or patches available—you're dead wrong. 🙂

..first rule of Linux: just turn off the update option because they're trivial anyway, and the system won't ever crash on you like this colorful piece of crap screaming at you from Windows... mostly used as a server to install endless programs...

but why the hell are you guys acting like toddlers and sucking up to Bill Gates? Seriously, screw all of you...

I’ve got several systems running on a few different computers, including the one I actually asked about—the one where instead of giving me a straight answer, you morons just keep dragging out this pointless Linux vs. Windows debate. Just answer the damn question. Regarding Windows 7: if it works, it works. If it doesn't, I'll install Linux Mint, or I'll just move to Mac; so don't give me any of this Mac vs. Windows bullshit...

...I want an answer, and I want it about Windows 7... the question is right there in front of you.

..this piece of junk system is trying to push a patch for the exact same hole—somewhere between 41 and 533 MB—even though I’ve been patching it religiously since day one... if I actually hit "install," is it gonna eat up half a gig of data—basically half my monthly data cap—or is it finally gonna acknowledge the year plus of constant patching I've done...😕

..so what's the move? skip the install, wipe this trash, or just jump ship to Linux Mint?😕

Andrew Clark33 said:Hey everyone,

I'm thinking about grabbing a laptop that comes pre-installed with Linux since they're usually way cheaper—then I'll just wipe it and install Windows XP or 7 myself. Is that actually a good move, or am I better off just paying the extra cash for a machine that already has Windows on it?

...just forget about that Linux idea...

Hey there,

People over here are constantly talking trash about pirated software—whether it's downloading different versions of Windows, cracking games, or even straight-up dealing sketchy "cracks,"...

But then, for god's sake, you keep deleting my posts regularly and systematically just because I drop a sentence or two insulting this damn system...

I’m seriously asking for an explanation.

Thanks in advance,

Best,

Benjamin King2 said:Write whatever you want, just bring actual arguments next time... posts like "chuck a DVD out the window" are just mindless trolling and they’re gonna keep getting nuked.

..."throwing Windows through a window" is actually a pretty solid, vivid metaphor—it clearly illustrates my humble little opinion on the subject...

...deleting posts under the guise of "mindless trolling" ( .. vs. actual trolling, (+ two "l's")...

..just wipe the drive and install a reliable OS, then you can mess around with Windows all you want..
... because if I say one single bad thing about that "perfect" software, they'll just nuked my post here for the millionth time...

Benjamin King2 said:He's talking about every single update released so far. What does "update" even mean?

...listen, my dear little Windows fanatic Benjamin King2,

...to "update" or be "current" just means using a word that’s basically an Americanized loanword—something we grabbed from English—meaning to bring something up to speed or align it with the present state of things. It’s about making sure the current status of a thing matches what it should be right now.

.. but if you try to process that through your brain—which seems stuck on some basic, low-level internet slang—all you're really getting is that dumb, repetitive jargon for an "updated" computer system.

..hey there, Windows addicts,

Is there actually any point in bothering with the Service Pack 1 update if I've already manually hunted down and installed every single patch out there? Basically—does one single massive update just bundle everything my beautiful Windows 7 Ultimate setup needs anyway?
