Let’s get one thing straight first. Anyone who actually bothered to look at my profile can see I’m not a doctor—I’m a medical technologist. So, I can give you my take based on my own perspective, drawing on what I’ve seen firsthand working in mental health facilities and my own experiences dealing with private and hospital psychiatrists.
I’m slammed right now, so I’ll drop a full response this afternoon if you want. We can also move this to DMs. 😉
Of course I get it. I studied this stuff and drilled it into my head constantly all through high school and college! 😉
And I never said it was the cause—just a trigger. I know plenty of people where marijuana acted as the trigger for psychotic symptoms to kick in. My first post on this thread wasn't meant to provoke anyone. I just wanted to express my thoughts and emotions, you know? All the things you can't really suppress when you're dealing with someone in acute psychosis. 🙂
I'm on the exact same page. Actually, they beat me to it because I was just about to post that when you're dealing with patients in an acute psychotic state, having a "normal" conversation is just impossible.
It’s honestly refreshing to read firsthand accounts here from people living with these conditions who are actually in a good headspace and can share what they're going through.
Look, depending on where we land for work, some of us aren't exactly dealing with patients facing mental health struggles on a daily basis. It all comes down to which hospital or clinic we happen to get placed in.
And if you think I just sit around reading textbooks and clinical manuals—yeah, I stay sharp. I also spend time reading through forums and other sites where people actually describe their problems and look for advice or help.
Sure, but I think you could look at that opinion two different ways.
If you liked how marijuana made you feel, then yeah, you’d probably light up again. 😉
What I was actually asking was this: if you had known it was one of the triggers for getting sick, would you have ever touched the stuff in the first place?
I drop in on this thread every now and then to learn from these "real-life examples," since I work in the medical field. 😉
Quick question: for anyone here who used marijuana or other drugs that likely acted as a trigger for your condition—do you actually regret doing it now?
Look, don't sweat it. Based on the description, we're talking illusions here—just a glitch in how you're perceiving things. Nothing worth worrying about. 😉
Maybe it’d be better if you actually dug into where this fear of the dark is coming from in the first place. Good luck! 😉
fadedbear92 said:Right here is a tapering schedule for alprazolam (Xanax); check your daily dosage and the timeline for reduction. As you'll see, you could drop by 0.25 mg every week, though I'd suggest opting for the longer route—your body will adjust much more smoothly that way...
As for what to expect? If you go slow with small increments, the side effects won't be nearly as brutal... you might consider switching to Ativan if things get rough... personally, I was a heavy user for 15 years (I even hit 6-8 Xanax pills at 0.5 mg a day)... but my process was different from what I'd recommend to you...🙂
And here is a protocol developed by a doctor in London who uses a substitute medication to help bridge the gap while tapering off Xanax...
Good luck!!!
Thanks, fadedbear92! 🙂
I don't really have much to worry about since I'm only on 0.25 mg a day, but I'm terrified of waking up one morning on 3x3 mg doses.🙄
Basically, if I've got this right, the easiest way to quit Xanax is by switching to Ativan first?!
I don't give a damn about textbooks or academic papers. I can find all that junk in a library or online if I really wanted to. What I actually care about is real-world experience.
So, how do you actually get off Xanax, and what kind of hell am I looking at during the detox?
Dreading this stuff is an understatement. If I miss my dose by even a little bit, I'm done for—panic attacks, dizziness, feeling weak, nausea... it's brutal.
For those of you who’ve been there, how did you handle tapering off Xanax?
I'm on it for panic disorder—just one 0.25 mg dose around lunchtime. I want to get off this stuff before my body starts demanding more and more just to feel normal...
First off, let me correct you—it’s not kidney reflux, it’s vesicoureteral reflux. I dealt with this when I was a toddler, under two years old. I had surgery in Washington, D.C. at the Mayo Clinic (basically what they call the Reebok of hospitals nowadays). There isn't an "alternative" here. You need surgery. It's a physical condition; no holistic remedy is going to change the fact that it's there. Just find a solid internist and a skilled surgeon, and you'll be fine. 👍
I'm using Word. I just finished my thesis and now I need to add citations to a few different pages. Basically, I need to put the source info in the footnotes at the bottom of the specific pages where I'm quoting things.
But I've hit a wall. Every time I try to add a footnote to one page, that same exact text shows up at the bottom of every single page in the entire document. It's everywhere. And I can't get rid of it—if I try to delete it, it wipes out everything. 😢
I could figure this out back when I was using an older version of Word, but now? Nothing is working. 😢
Sorry if this was already asked, I don't have the time right now to dig through every single page.
Long story short—ever since I switched to Windows 7, I can't get the USB driver for my Dell PC to work. I installed the Samsung PC studio software, but the USB reader just won't recognize anything. It's useless. 😢
Does anyone actually have a fix for this? Help me out!
I’m looking into those loans from Canada too. Anyone here actually dealt with them? If so, please share. 🙂
Regarding JPMorgan Chase—has anyone here had any "business" with Martin, the woman acting as a broker for Wells Fargo here in the US?? She showed up at our office about two weeks ago with some guy. They did an assessment for roughly $200 and asked for all the standard paperwork—everything seemed legitimate enough. They told us we’d know if the loan was approved within a week or two and said it looked like a "yes."
Since then? Nothing. Not a single word from Martin in over a week. We’re starting to worry this might be a scam... 🤷
If anyone has experience dealing with her, please reach out.
