I'm using a Verizon modem, and I have a Linksys adapter connected to my computer that picks up the signal from it. It isn't one of those basic USB sticks; it’s one of those units with a base station, and I've been using this Linksys for years now. I even went into its settings, and it says everything is up to date and functioning perfectly enough..
Hi everyone, so for the last few days—ever since I first tried putting my computer into sleep mode—my internet keeps cutting out, even when the PC isn't actually sleeping. I'll be sitting there browsing on Chrome, and suddenly nothing will load. It says I'm connected and shows full signal strength, so everything looks fine on the surface. The Troubleshooter doesn't find anything wrong. To get back online, I have to manually trigger sleep mode and then wake the computer up again, which finally forces the connection to work. I already called my ISP and they said everything is fine on their end, and my settings look okay too since all my systems report no connectivity issues. I'm using Wi-Fi. If anyone knows what might be causing this, I’d really appreciate the help. Constantly forcing the computer into sleep mode just to browse is getting exhausting. I've been running Windows 7 for about a year now, and it was working perfectly until this started happening.
It’s honestly surreal reading about people actually getting sleep from Calixta, especially at such low doses like 7.5 mg. I was on 45 mg for four months, and the only time it actually helped me drift off was during those first two or three weeks; after that, it did absolutely nothing.
shadowbear9 said:So, I tried explaining my situation to the doctor yesterday. I told her straight up that I’d managed to get my hands on some Quetiapine and that it actually works wonders for me. But she was being incredibly stubborn about it, insisting she can't just prescribe it because she doesn't view me as psychotic. She mentioned she’d check in with Medicare to see what the policy is and told me to call her back tomorrow to see if there's any way around it. If not, apparently I'll just have to pay full price out of pocket, or—and this part felt a bit shady—she suggested I talk to a psychiatrist to have them note that I'm experiencing psychosis. I've only got four tablets left, and honestly, God knows how I'm supposed to sleep once they run out.🙄
I'm not psychotic either. My psychiatrist just wrote down bipolar disorder as my diagnosis just so she could prescribe me Quetiapine. All you have to do is say you're cycling between depression and mania, and they'll hand it over. Otherwise, you're paying out of pocket. $83 Look, if you have a private prescription from your own psychiatrist, then you're all set. $33.
Michael Hill2 said:I wouldn't know, honestly, but right now you can't really tell which side effect is coming from the Prozac and which is from the Quetiapine.
The only thing I remember seeing online while looking for insomnia fixes was that people take 25 mg of Quetiapine for sleep, and then you supposedly scale up. I have no idea why your doctor jumped straight to such a high dose; maybe that's what's causing the agitation.
You'd be better off asking someone who's actually used Q-pin for insomnia—like, half the people on these therapy subreddits. 😁
And hey, if you're crazy, you'll still be crazy on Prozac. Don't worry about it. You're alright. 😍
I take my Prozac in the morning and the Quetiapine at night. As for the insomnia, I'm almost 100% certain it's the Quetiapine because I only struggle to sleep after I've taken it.
The 200 mg is just my starting dose. My doctor mentioned she'll likely adjust and increase both medications later; she gave me a low dose initially just so I could get used to them.
Thanks! 😍
Kevin Bailey2 said:It’s going to take a while for things to "level out" on Prozac. You’ll probably cycle through phases of insomnia and then phases where you sleep too much before things actually stabilize.
I don't know how much weight you put on, but Prozac can act as an anorexic, so there's a real chance you'll drop a lot of weight. When I started Prozac, I was at a healthy weight, but I lost another 25 pounds on it and started heading toward anorexia.
They eventually put me on Seroquel to bring my appetite back, and it leveled me out enough that I'm only about 15 pounds underweight now.
I gained 33 pounds on Calixta. I really want to shed all of it and get back to my old weight. Now that I know it's possible, I'm hoping it works the same way for me.
It’s been a week since I switched from Calixta 45 mg and Tegretol 400 mg over to Prozac 20 ml and Quetiapine 200 mg. The first combo gave me the absolute worst side effects imaginable—it felt like every bad thing that could happen, did. Even though I was on a high dose of Calixta, it just stopped working, and I started sliding back into depression. I even had some suicidal thoughts for a few days there, but I managed to pull myself through. Those two meds were seriously messing with my vision and my head. I won't go into all the details, but it was rough. My new psychiatrist suggested Prozac to help with weight loss, since that previous regimen caused me to gain 30 pounds. She put me on Quetiapine to help with sleep because I used Seroquel about a year ago and it used to knock me right out. The first night I took the Quetiapine, I couldn't sleep at all and had to take Normabate just to drift off. I struggled so much, and when I finally woke up, it felt like I'd slept for 12 hours straight. I was hyperactive, which isn't like me at all. It felt like someone had grabbed my leg and sawed it off—just constant pain and discomfort. I'm also getting massive hot flashes from the Quetiapine and sweating like crazy. The Prozac is working well; I'm eating a bit less, though my stomach hurts sometimes. I feel happier and more stable on it. Still, there's this weird sadness in the back of my mind because I finally found a medication that makes me feel "normal," yet I actually grew to like myself when I was depressed and suicidal (as weird as that sounds—I loved being that crazy version of myself, and it felt right. I don't know how else to act when I'm like that).
I’m going to have to talk to my psychiatrist about the Quetiapine. Has anyone else dealt with this?
says: I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with this kind of combo therapy:
I’ve been on 50 mg of Zoloft for a little over three weeks now, and honestly, I haven't felt much of a change. It's tough to tell if the side effects are just part of the illness itself, but what’s really killing me—aside from the lack of improvement in my mood and energy—is that I have zero appetite and my sleep schedule is completely trashed.😢 Now my therapist suggested adding 15 mg of Odonazin (Remeron, Calixta) at night to help with the sleeping and eating (she mentioned I could even take half a dose). Has anyone tried this or something similar? I'm mostly worried about feeling totally wiped out—even basic Neofen used to make me feel super drowsy back before all this mess started.😲 I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences.🙂
I was taking 45mg of Calixta. For the first couple of months, it would absolutely knock me out the second I took it, but you can pick whatever time works for you; it doesn't strictly have to be 9 PM. As for the appetite, I ended up gaining 26 pounds and I'm still going. Mind you, I was on a pretty high dosage.
restlesstiger49 said:I don't think so. Quetiapine is actually the active ingredient in Q-pin. 🤷
One time I took 25mg. Within thirty minutes, I was absolutely floored. And yeah, I dealt with those exact same side effects you mentioned. It took me half the day just to feel human again. For me, that dose works best for anxiety if I take it during the day, though thankfully I've never taken it then because I would've passed out at my desk.
My doctor put me on 200 mg, and you're already dying from just 25?! 😲 😲 Starting 200 mg of Quetiapine and 20 mg of Prozac tomorrow.
My doctor wants me to start taking Seroquel just to help with sleep. That's the situation. I'm not experiencing any psychotic symptoms right now; I'm just dealing with a mild depressive episode and some personality disorder issues at the moment.
hollowcrane95 said:Wait, didn't someone mention earlier in the thread that they've started prescribing Q-pin for anxiety and depression now too?
I'm not sure, but clearly my current diagnoses don't cover it. I actually had a minor meltdown at the pharmacy when the lady there told me I'd have to pay full price $83.
Jason Vaughn482 said:Look, missing a couple of days of Lexapro isn't going to wreck your progress, but I wasn't quite sure what you meant—are you actually planning to switch to something else, or just asking about the missed doses?
Yes. I saw my psychiatrist yesterday and she put me on Prozac and Quetiapine 200 mg (Seroquel, Q-pin, whatever you want to call it). Has anyone here used this combination before? What was your experience like?
The only issue is she wrote down the wrong diagnosis, so it doesn't technically cover the Quetiapine, but I'll get that sorted out pretty soon.
I heard that if you stop taking an antidepressant and switch to a new one, it takes another four weeks for the new one to actually kick in. But what if you just missed a dose or two? Does that count as stopping? It's regarding Calixta 45 mg.
Nicole Barrett76 said:I have an off-topic question, and I am honestly not quite sure which section this belongs in.
Suppose there is someone who, over a very long period of time, uses Facebook and other social media platforms to make public threats of self-harm; in such a case, would the police or emergency services be obligated to respond to that individual and forcibly transport them to a psychiatric facility, even if they aren't actively endangering others or themselves, but are "merely" making those threats?
Maybe they're just an attention seeker. Though, even that isn't exactly healthy. But I don't think anyone is obligated to step in; if someone truly wants to end it, they'll do it regardless of whether they post about it on Facebook.
I’ve been on birth control for years and my cycle has always been clockwork, but this month everything just went haywire. I had my period, then nothing for about a week and a half, and then it started back up again—basically twice in one month. Now, it was supposed to arrive again, but it only lasted a single day. This is the first time anything like this has ever happened to me. Just to be clear, I'm not pregnant, so we can rule that out immediately. Is it normal to have a period mid-cycle? Some people on the pill get spotting, but this was a full seven-day period. The whole thing has just left me really confused...
I was wondering if you deal with hunger spikes on Seroquel too? I managed to get things mostly under control while I was on Olanzapine, but I slipped up again tonight and ate late 🙂 sometimes it just feels stronger than I am. My therapist mentioned that Calista might also act as an appetite stimulant, too...
I gained 8 lbs while on Calixta. At first, I was eating constantly, but it’s gotten a bit better now—I can actually control myself.
fadedbear92 said:You can—just don't use the Xanax for more than three weeks straight, otherwise you run the risk of getting hooked.
Too true. I got hooked on them; I was shaking them like crazy and ended up deciding to just overdose on them instead.
This is my second time being hospitalized for suicide attempts, and right now I'm on 45 mg of Calixtu and two tablets of Tegretol daily. I have no idea why they have me on an anti-epileptic medication that's strictly for seizures, but whatever. My treatment plan is completely wrong—nothing is working, and the side effects are brutal. I'm dealing with massive hair loss, weight gain, muscle twitches, and a total loss of motor control. Even my speech is messed up; letters blur together, my tongue gets tied, and I end up saying things that make zero sense or use the wrong grammar, even though I’ve always been highly intelligent with excellent command of the English language. Everything feels terrible, and they're planning to discharge me from the hospital next week despite the fact that I haven't improved at all. To make matters worse, my doctor won't even talk to me—he avoids me entirely, but he told the nurses I'm not allowed back here once I leave. I've already been stuck here for a month, and if I ask for a new prescription now, I'll just spend another month struggling to adjust to new meds. I honestly don't know what to do. Should I just stop taking these drugs, or keep pushing through in the hope that they'll actually help?
I didn't have any birth control pills on hand, and finding some was the whole issue. Since it was already 11:20 PM, there was nowhere left to pick up a prescription. Oh well, just extra protection then. Thanks 🙂
