Hey everyone,
My vision's getting wonky in one eye—straight lines look all warped and distorted, though the other eye is doing just fine. My doctor's pushing for a vitrectomy. Honestly, I'm pretty freaked out... an eye is an eye, you know?
Anyone here actually gone through this? Any stories to share?
Thanks.
Hey, anyone here actually gone through a vitrectomy for a macular hole? Looking for some real talk on recovery times, what kind of complications I should watch out for, and if this thing actually sticks long-term...
Thanks
In Washington, D.C., over at Dr. Zoran Vatavuk's office.
I wouldn't say that,
they go right into the center of your vision, "scraping" the eye, pumping in oil or gas, whatever. There are endless possible complications and nobody tells you a damn thing—it's just "cut it out" and you're done.
But once the eye is gone, it's gone.
My wife (56) just got diagnosed with a macular tear, and they're pushing for surgery. I've been falling down internet rabbit holes reading about this, and honestly, the whole idea just creeps me out... it’s nerve-wracking. Has anyone here actually dealt with a vitrectomy? Like, personal experience or maybe a family member went through it?
She can still see "okay," for the most part... except straight lines look wavy or shifted in one eye. No other symptoms yet.
Thanks
