Anyone still running Windows 7?

can anyone help me out here...
I want to wipe Windows clean. I actually tried doing this already, but I ended up leaving all my files sitting on the D: drive... pretty sure I messed up during the installation process...
So here's the plan: I have a Windows 7 DVD ready to go. If I format both the D: drive and the C: drive—which means everything on the PC will be gone, right?—can I just pop in the DVD and start the Windows 7 install? Is there any way this could backfire? Like, will the installer even recognize the DVD if I've totally wiped the computer (both C: and D:)?
