Has anyone tried Trinovum? in Women's Health ·
I’ve been on the pill for five years now. I started with Diane, and honestly, they were awful for me—constant headaches and dizziness—even though my sister and a friend swear by them. Then I switched to Triquilar and finally Yaz. Yaz works fine, but man, they are ridiculously expensive. Last month, I actually gasped when the pharmacist told me the price was $50. It’s wild because those same pills go for about $27 over in Canada! My gynecologist pushed Yaz on me mostly because they were the "new" thing on the market and, let's face it, the most expensive. I wouldn't be surprised if doctors get specific instructions to push certain brands. A few weeks ago, I saw a different OB-GYN who prescribed Trinovum instead. I got a little spooked, but he explained his reasoning. Basically, these doctors offer us all sorts of birth control options, usually aiming for the pricier ones because they attend seminars and stuff where they get pitched these things. They don't exactly steer us toward the cheap options like Trinovum; back in the day, it would have been Diane, simply because there wasn't much profit in it. He even whispered to me, like it was some big secret, not to tell my friends he suggested Trinovum! He also insisted that we aren't gaining weight or getting cellulite from the pills themselves, but rather from our sedentary lifestyles and poor diets. We just end up blaming the medication.
I think he has a point, though. I read your posts about how you're constantly hungry when taking Trinovum, and it’s totally stuck in my head now. I'm convinced it'll happen to me too. Now I'm just going to be obsessed with it... plus all the negative side effects I've read about. At the end of the day, we probably just have to try them ourselves and see what happens, since everyone reacts differently! 🙂
