Haha, I'm such a clown... ROFL thanks 😁

Alright... are the miners gone? 🤦 I haven't really kept up with the gaming scene lately. 🤦

Hm, what’s the reasoning there? I guess I’ll just have to make do with an R7 370... for the time being. 😢

What’s going on? Are miners buying everything up? The forum search isn't working for me. 😁 I was just starting to consider an RX 480 when this happened. -.-

I misspoke—I'm at work right now so my head isn't fully in the game. I meant a generic, no-name power supply; yeah, it came bundled with the case.

I'm putting the GTX 950 into my girlfriend's rig (specs are nearly identical), so I’ll test it out on this power supply first. If it runs smoothly, great; if not, I'll have to hunt down a new PSU. 🙂

Any alternatives from the NVIDIA camp? Maybe a GTX 1060 6GB?

Intel Core i5-4660, 12GB DDR3, Samsung Pro Evo SSD, and a 650W power supply (though I suspect it's an OEM unit, which might be part of the issue).

Hey everyone, I'm currently running a GTX 950 with 2GB of VRAM.

Any recommendations for a mid-range upgrade? Looking for at least 4GB.

Understood, thanks. I can send over the invoice for the spa resort if you need it. 🙂

Power requirement 500W (with one 6-pin external power connector).

That’s what Gigabyte says for my 37 370. Will the LC Power be enough? It's rated at 460, while my current one is a CCT at 500w.

If I don't make it, I'm sending the bill for my rehab to a spa somewhere. 🙂 Thanks.

I'm passing by the local magazine shop today 🙂 Should I grab something there, or is it worth making a trip over to the Links store? I've got my bike with me. 🙂

What do you guys think of this?

Less is more 🙂 Best Buy 🙂

Let's say $350 is a bit much just for a power supply... I could probably stretch the budget, but I'm not sure if there's any point. This old junk has been running for 5 or 6 years and still works, even if it looks like absolute trash. 🙂

Can anyone recommend a decent power supply? Right now I'm running a random 500w unit that probably cost me $43, and honestly, I wouldn't bother upgrading unless it starts acting up or causing issues 🙂

Timothy Kim60 said:In that case, this is probably your best bet, especially since it's paired with the $33R7 265

It looks like a solid choice. From what I can tell, it's 256-bit, which means it has twice the memory bandwidth and faster speeds than the old one; it should be more than enough for my needs.

To answer why I was asking about a shorter card—my old Radeon was massive and heavy, causing issues because it kept sagging in the PCIe slot. I'd rather not deal with those kinds of headaches again.🙂

Thinking about it more carefully, I’m currently running an EVGA 550 W1. It’s been powering my old 4870 for years, even with that card's power draw. I appreciate the suggestions, but it feels like everyone jumped straight to high-end gear rather than focusing on a true "best buy" option. 🙂I play games very rarely; my current 4870 handles GTA V reasonably well on medium settings. I wouldn't even consider upgrading if the memory wasn't starting to struggle. This ASUS GTX960 OC looks like a solid choice, though I'd certainly prefer it if the price were a bit lower.

Bradley Lewis59 said:Those are probably the least relevant criteria you could have picked for a "best buy" category. What actually matters is whether you need to run absolutely every single game on max settings... or if you're fine with most of them, making a few honorable exceptions where you'll settle for mid/high and call it a day.

I'm running an i5 4460 with 8GB of RAM. I play games here and there—mostly just checking out the big hits—so I don't necessarily need everything on high. My power supply is just a generic 500W unit, but I can swap that out if needed. Money isn't the issue, but as I mentioned, I'm looking for the best value. My current setup is starting to fail, which is why I'm looking for an upgrade.

Hi,

I'm currently running a 4870 1GB, and it's definitely time for an upgrade. I'm looking for a solid best buy—something significantly better than my current 🙂
.
Ideally, I want a card that runs cooler and has a smaller footprint. This current thing is a total tank; it takes up half my case like some kind of 🙂
monster.
So, what would you recommend as the best value purchase right now?

Is anyone else actually here? I'm standing at 5'6" :P Here’s the secret: 2797 miles Apple cycling for 9 months. Now I’m thinking about starting a real training routine and maybe finally chasing that six-pack goal. We'll see how it goes 🙂
