Ivan Merz High School, the Catholic Scouts of the local Archdiocese, the 128th Brigade Association, and the HNK Rijeka Ultras are all coming together to ask you to join us on November 16th to observe Memorial Day for Vukovar. We’re inviting everyone in town—all our neighbors and friends—to gather peacefully on Vukovar Street at 7:30 PM, where the procession will begin. This patriotic march is expected to meet up at the Defender Bridge with about 500 students from Sušak High School, who’ll be participating in the program beforehand (including some moving testimonies from Vukovar veterans and heroes like Zoran Šangut, Damir Radnić, Nenad Gagić, and Irena Kačić—who lost both her husband and son). Once we reach the bridge, the prayer service will be led by the local Chancellor, Msgr. Nikola Imbrišak, at 8:00 PM. After we light the candles, the whole group will head home quietly and respectfully.

So... what am I even supposed to be using to place my bets now? Like, am I just stuck paying in dollars at the sportsbooks or what???
I mean, I guess you could try moving those coins from a savings account to a checking account—it's probably pretty straightforward—but honestly, it depends on how your bank handles transfers between accounts. Usually, it's just a quick tap on the app, right? Maybe check if there are any weird holding periods first, though I doubt it for a simple transfer like that.

Look, you should probably just reach out to their customer service and walk them through what happened. Honestly, you aren't the first person in the States to deal with this kind of mess—it’s definitely doable to get the currency swapped, but man, it can be a total headache. It takes some serious patience and a lot of back-and-forth to explain the whole "how" and "why" to them, but it works if you stick with it. Just... whatever you do, don't go making a second account. If they catch wind of that, they'll likely freeze both accounts, and then trying to fix things will become a complete nightmare.

I'm just sitting here waiting for them to mail out my address verification—once that hits my mailbox, am I good to go? Like, can I just start depositing into my sportsbook account and then withdraw straight to my checking account via mobile banking, or is there some other hoop I'll have to jump through?

If you haven't actually sent the payment yet, don't sweat it—you should still be able to switch up the currency. I'd say just shoot them an email first... they'll probably walk you through how to handle it.

Ronald Barrett55 said:So, if I were to set up a foreign currency account in dollars right now—say, just to have some extra cash sitting there—and then I headed over to an ATM, would I actually be able to pull out any cash in local currency? Or would it just get stuck? I guess it really depends on how the machine handles the conversion, maybe...

Yeah, but either way, you’ll still have the one you’re holding right now—you can just open a separate account specifically for the sportsbook. Just a heads-up though, if you want to use mobile banking, you're gonna need a card with a CVC code, so maybe check which bank offers that easily... I think Chase or Bank of America usually makes it pretty straightforward.

I honestly don't know—you could probably set up a MoneyGram account using US dollars, but I'm not really sure what you'd even do with it. I guess you could try doing it in another currency too, but honestly, it shouldn't be that hard to just open a standard checking account in USD. There’s usually just some tiny annual fee, and they'll mail you a debit card in maybe ten or fifteen days. Just—and this is important—make sure when you're setting up the account that you pick the right currency from the start... because man, it is sooo incredibly difficult to change that later once you've already made your first deposit.

Honestly, just head down to your local Chase branch and ask them—I know from experience with Wells Fargo that if you just put in a formal request, they can get everything set up for you in like, five minutes. They'll give you one of those card readers, and it basically generates a one-time code whenever you need to log in to their site. It costs about $2.75/month, but I guess I don't really know how the other banks handle it

Kyle Sanchez8 said:What site are you using and what's the minimum bet?

Right now I'm using Bet at Home—minimum is basically $1 per ticket regardless of whether it's a system bet or not (don't quote me on that 100%, maybe you can go lower but I haven't tried it)

Ronald Barrett55 said:Can I send money to my mobile banking if my account is in USD?

Yeah, you can, as long as your mobile banking is also set up in USD... I'm not sure about other setups, though.

I actually opened a US dollar account for myself—mobile banking in USD, and all my sportsbooks and poker sites are in USD too. Honestly, I just did it so I wouldn't get ripped off on the exchange rates, which I think is probably the easiest way to handle it. I didn't really feel like messing around with different currency combinations, plus I have online banking so I don't even have to step foot in a bank.

Ronald Barrett55 said:So you're saying it has to be in dollars? I mean, I just used my credit card from Chase to put 50 bucks onto Bet at Home...

Well, you were depositing straight to the sportsbook, which—I don't know—might seem easy now, but you'll see why it's risky when you try to withdraw a real chunk of change. Once those "friendly" folks over at the IRS start asking questions about where the money came from and why it's hitting your account, you're gonna wish you'd been more careful. Trust me, the government is always looking for any excuse to grab a cut, they're basically just hunting for cash wherever they can find it.

Do whatever works for you, I guess, but if you want my two cents, stick with Moneybookers.

I mean, which sportsbook are we even talking about? Maybe do a quick search online—I haven't really played on DraftKings myself, so I wouldn't know how they operate

It exists on some bets, maybe a few others too—but I think he’s actually asking about the minimum deposit for the sportsbook itself, rather than the limit on an individual bet

Kyle Sanchez8 said:Can someone maybe help me out with a few questions?

1. Can I just use a standard checking account to play online?
2. Does the account have to be in dollars, or can it be in something else?
3. What’s the minimum deposit usually?
4. Since I'm a minor—but I do have my own debit card—can I just open an account in my own name?

1. Nah, you'll probably need a foreign currency account for that.
2. It's gotta be dollars or euros—you won't be able to use anything else.
3. Depends on which site you're looking at, but usually it's around $10-$15.
4. No way—even here in the States, minors aren't allowed to gamble, let alone at a legit online sportsbook. You should probably ask a brother, sister, or one of your parents... maybe see if they'll open an account in their name instead.

Ronald Barrett55 said:why does everyone use PayPal instead of just hitting it directly with a card?
i mean, what's even the point when you're getting hit with a 1.7% fee on PayPal and then another 2% at the sportsbook?

well, I guess one of the biggest reasons is definitely the IRS. under our laws, you aren't supposed to be gambling or playing poker... from within the States on a site that isn't registered here. it might not seem like a huge deal when you're depositing, but if you try to withdraw, things could get messy fast. by using PayPal, the bank sees the money coming from the payment processor rather than some random offshore sportsbook—so if the IRS starts asking questions about where the funds originated, they'd have to go through PayPal first, which—honestly—I'd love to see them try to track down.😁

if they actually manage to prove you were placing bets on an unlicensed foreign site from the US, you could lose your cash plus face some massive fines—and yeah, I don't think anyone wants that.

Ronald Barrett55 said:why don't you just use your debit card instead

I mean, you can, but they're super picky about it—probably just because they want to make sure you actually have access to the account the card is tied to. They’re obsessed with making sure nobody is laundering money through them, so they need you to prove it's really you. Once that's cleared, you can just fund the account in like ten seconds... all you really need is the CVC code and some cash in the bank.

Maybe try shooting them an email and see what they say? I'm mostly just going off my own experience and stuff a few friends told me.

Usually, you'll get a standard letter sent to your address—it typically takes about 15 to 30 days, but honestly, don't sweat it if it runs a bit late; mine actually took about 35 days to show up. I guess the older folks really know their stuff when it comes to Moneybookers, though. You should try reaching out to them directly... I think you can verify your address by just scanning a utility bill, as long as the bill is actually in your name. They’re usually pretty flexible about this kind of thing, but you definitely have to talk to them first. I actually know a buddy who managed to get through by just scanning his passport, but that took a few days and they kept asking for all sorts of random, annoying stuff

To verify the card, they basically charge a small amount—I think it's up to $2.99 max—and then you just report that exact amount on the site. Just a heads-up, though: don't try to report it immediately. Maybe wait about three days? The amount can sometimes shift on that last decimal point, so you want to be sure. And obviously, you need to have enough cash in the account to cover it. If I were you, I'd probably just make sure your Moneybookers account and your bank account are using the same currency, like either both USD or both Euros

Ronald Barrett55 said:I was also wondering—do I actually need to upload a scan of my ID if I want to set up an account over at DraftKings?

Nah, you don't necessarily have to right away, but you'll definitely need to verify your address and either your card or whatever bank account you're using to fund things. Just... maybe be prepared for the fact that they can ask for a scan of some ID at any time. I wouldn't recommend trying to fake your name, last name, or address—it's just not worth the headache if they catch on.

When it comes to deposits and withdrawals, honestly, they’re all pretty much the same if you're just using PayPal—but I usually stick to Mastercard. It's mostly so the IRS doesn't come knocking at my door, you know? Plus, it's super fast... like, you can move funds from your account to your Mastercard in maybe 20 seconds, and then right back to the sportsbook if you need to jump on a bet quickly. As for what games are actually available, I guess that just depends on what kind of action you're looking for.

Look, we still have those songs from back in the old days and the early 90s that aren't technically ours—who actually ripped them off is a question we’ll probably never agree on, so I honestly don't even see the point in getting into those arguments. But if we're talking about the last decade or so? There are definitely no copies there. If anything, people are copying us. We’ve got plenty of our own covers where nobody sang it before we did—the messages, the choreography... we were even the ones who first started using those little signs and flags on sticks. So, it kind of pisses me off when people try to claim we're the ones copying others, especially when it's coming from folks in places like Chicago or Philly.

I get why you're all pissed off or whatever... but honestly... you just didn't take it...

So you think we won it and then it got snatched away? Man, you're acting just like those people from the South—suddenly nothing exists in your memory. From what you're saying, it sounds like we basically robbed ourselves of that title. You're tripping. I was only 11 back then, but I remember those games like they happened yesterday. The whole country was watching. If we had scored ten more goals, they probably would've found a way to cancel the whole thing anyway. How can you not see that???
