Alright then... looks like you're getting nothing but apple juice tonight.😁

😂

...remind me to buy him a beer for that logic alone 🙏 🙏 🙏

Because you're a hot Canadian guy in glasses—which, if you ask Cosm, is pretty much the vibe right now... 😁

BUT WHERE IS JOY DIVISION!!!!!!!!!!!

They just don't fit the pattern.😬

Honestly, I love you all—you absolute idiots...

I’m really hoping the moderator steps in here

Why? I was actually hoping this would be handled like men—just some old-fashioned, direct back-and-forth right here on the forum 😬

I’ve got this theory—every newborn should probably be handed a copy of Vonnegut’s "Galapagos" and Heller’s "Catch-22"—just so they get an early lesson in how little they can actually expect from humanity. 🙂

🙂

Bluebreast is from '87, if I recall correctly—it's just that the American translation is relatively recent... and sure, the book is solid, but it’s definitely not sitting among his absolute best.

Wait, you actually have a full-blown precinct for your books?!? 😲

I'm not so sure—it feels a bit too much like it's just recycling its own tropes...

The last truly great one was Galapagos, though that was way back in... 🤔

dmj said:I didn't bring him up either... 😳 Though, if some people here are already questioning whether he even qualifies as a sci-fi writer, what else is there to say?

all I'll say is he's a brilliant writer 🙂
(even if he hasn't produced anything worth mentioning in at least fifteen years 😳 )

It was worth it. Picked up the CD. 🙂

Kevin Chavez3 said:I got so worked up writing this that I almost drove straight to the local Tower Records to buy every single Exploited record they had in stock. 😁 Too bad some shady distributors messed things up—they snatched up "Totally Exploited" and the lovely "Death Before Dishonour," leaving me stuck with nothing but "The Massacre" on some low-quality bootleg pressing... 🙂 At least Free Bird had the first Pet Shop Boys album, so I had a little consolation prize. 😍

🤣

🙏 🙏 🙏

....you know, you could actually eat something decent once in a while instead of just obsessing over vinyl 😉

Why do people still bother writing love songs when Group 4 already covered the whole subject long ago? 🤔

"Love tends to pop up as a lyrical staple—mostly because most bands build their entire discography around the highs of falling in love or the bliss of being in it. You might find yourself wondering why they lean into it so heavily—it’s simply because these artists believe there’s something uniquely profound about it, or perhaps they’re just following the crowd since everyone else has been doing it forever. To really write something, you need inspiration, and nothing sparks that quite like romance. These musicians assume that singing about love makes them universal—after all, they'd have you believe that everyone is capable of it, or at least that love is woven into the fabric of the human soul. I’m not suggesting there’s anything inherently wrong with love; it’s just that we don't believe the dynamics between two people need to be treated like some unsolvable mystery."

well... here are their top 8 'love' songs

anthrax
damaged goods
what we all want
natural's not in it
a hole in the wallet
at home he's a tourist
i love a man in uniform

Les Savy Fav—basically on hiatus (probably broken up)
Me Without You—honestly, no clue😕
Karate—split up
Q and Not U—gone
Rye Coalition—pretty sure they called it quits too🤔
