CrossFire isn't an option here

So, what's the move?

You could probably grab something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/graphics-card-listing-example

•X300, X600, X700, X800, X850, X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950

Taylor Sullivan24 said:I picked up a new HP Pro 3400 with 2GB of RAM and an ATX Motherboard (not sure if that's even the right way to say it...)
And the graphics chip inside says Apple Vision Pro—well, I think it's integrated since it doesn't look like my new one.
I bought a new N430GT 2GB DDR3 card. Can I actually plug this into the motherboard, and how do I get rid of the old card?
Thanks

Just pop the card into the slot and plug the monitor directly into it—there's a good chance the system will recognize the new hardware automatically, so you'll just need to hunt down the drivers. If you end up with a black screen, don't panic; just plug the monitor back into the onboard port, jump into the BIOS, and look for the 'Primary Display' setting (or whatever they call it these days)—you'll need to switch that from 'onboard' over to 'PCIe'.

Zachary Johnson38, do yourself a favor and grab this: http://www.piriform.com/speccy/download

The program will pull up every single component inside your rig—once it's done, just copy those specs over here.

Lega was totally on point there. 🙂

Wait, you’re telling me Windows 7 has better graphics than Windows XP??? What is that even supposed to mean?

And what exactly do you mean by "getting an HD picture"? You get an image regardless of which connector you plug the monitor into—the only real difference is that HDMI carries an audio signal along with the video, not just the video itself.

Matthew Young35 said:Is there actually a way to trigger that repair without using a disc? I mean, I managed to force it by messing around with the hardware, but is there some sort of "official" way to do it?

Look, if you just hit F8, the very first option on the menu is "Repair your computer." Those files are sitting right there on that tiny, hidden 100 MB partition that gets carved out during the Windows installation process—standard procedure. If your drive doesn't have that partition, then yeah, you're stuck using a disc for the repair.

Look, if you actually had a disc on hand, you wouldn't be messing around with the hardware in the first place—you should've at least whipped up a system repair disk since you don't have an installation disc handy.

The repair process will just trigger itself from the hard drive if there isn't a bootable disc available.

It’s pretty much impossible to guess exactly what went sideways off the top of my head—you'll need to check the repair log over in the C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\SRT folder.
Cheapest monitor with HDMI? in Computer Peripherals ·
HDMI is basically just a way to handle content protection digital for AV streams—any digital connection will get the job done, whether you're running DVI, HDMI, or DisplayPort.
Printer issues? in Computer Peripherals ·
Honestly, just grab a cheap laser printer instead of messing around with an inkjet.

Just run Startup Repair using the boot disk—specifically that first option from the link Noah Sanchez39 posted.

Check this out—it’ll run Call of Duty 4 without breaking a sweat: http://www.newegg.com/?item=graphics-card-example

Besides, when you're taking photos, it doesn't really matter what kind of GPU you're rocking.

dustybear9 said:well, turns out I was totally wrong—I was operating under this delusional assumption that if I shrunk one, the other would just automatically scale up to compensate, but nope, no such luck. Instead, I ended up creating this weird little gap that’s basically useless for...

It’s not going to magically resize itself, you know? If you manually shrunk the first one, you're gonna have to manually bump up the second one too.

Look, if you aren't trying to film some high-end, cinematic masterpiece or whatever, this thing will totally do the job—it's got a built-in mic and everything:

Look, in this price bracket, you're pretty much looking at a dead end—there just isn't an alternative. The 6770 or the GTX 550 Ti are both weaker options, and if you want the 6850, you're going to have to shell out more cash.
Cheapest monitor with HDMI? in Computer Peripherals ·
That monitor doesn't even have an HDMI port—honestly, with $333 you’re lucky if you can even track down one that features a DVI port, let alone HDMI.

Honestly, you’d be better off hitting them up through their distributor email—they pretty much exclusively ship to the North American market anyway.

It’s probably one of those older 16xx series models—the 1675 is actually a pretty recent release. If you're just looking at this for home use, it's definitely worth the investment, but it really depends—how much are we talking about here? Like, what’s your rough monthly page count?

rustysurfer79 said:If you try to pop the front cover on that printer using just one hand—good luck, you won't. You’ll honestly feel like the whole thing is about to snap right off. You need both hands for this one. Give it twelve months, once those plasticizers in the casing start to evaporate—or if you happen to live somewhere with a chilly winter—and that cover will just stay in your hand. I’m genuinely curious which of these printers will still have a functioning paper tray after twenty-four months. And if that tray is built like this, then you can bet everything else inside follows the exact same logic.

Basically, do yourself a favor and run this little stress test at a Best Buy before you ever open your wallet. That is, assuming you actually plan on using the thing after the warranty expires.

My old unit is over a year old now and hasn't creaked or jammed once. Since we're talking about cheap plastic anyway, let's be real: which home printer isn't basically a glorified trash can?🙂

Budget is around $167. (not like I expect a miracle for that price)😁
