I’ve got some fitness, but honestly, it isn't quite where I need it to be yet. I really need enough stamina to sustain a heart rate north of 160 or 170 for about ninety minutes straight... though usually, it varies. My mileage hits around 400-311 miles per week, which averages out to roughly 37 miles daily. It doesn't seem excessive to me. On days when I have school in the morning, I'm putting in about 55-37 miles a day, and then on the weekends, I'll do maybe 80 on Saturday and 80 on Sunday... more or less. I guess I don't quite see eye to eye with Jamie Ruiz5 regarding that 62 miles daily target... since that would be 435 miles weekly. Those kinds of sessions seem geared toward elite athletes; for someone like me, it's probably too much, and I just don't have the time for that level of intensity anyway.
Jamie Ruiz5 said:I agree with the rest of the post, but I think that first sentence would be more accurate if you adjusted it slightly: 😁 124 miles a week is just child's play for a semi-serious amateur, let alone someone who actually "lives for cycling."
Because, you know, how much is $100-124 miles a day? ...maybe around $400-311 miles a week... I guess... I work about 155 miles when school is in the afternoon since I can't make it earlier... and when school is in the morning, it's closer to $350-280 miles....
Honestly, did I really say I didn't know what proteins were? I was just asking because I heard they might be harmful... nothing more than that. I'm looking for strength and conditioning, not necessarily bulk. It seems like I'm not going to get an answer from anyone here, I guess...
I have one more question... I don't think I actually got an answer to this above... I'm looking to build strength in my legs, arms, and back... how should I train if I want to focus on pure strength without adding a ton of bulk? I really don't need the extra mass, just maximum power, especially in my legs. Also, I was wondering, how much of a concern is protein intake?
I'm curious about the best way to build up my stamina. I've been getting into cycling lately, and I really need to ramp up my fitness levels within the next two months. I recently started hitting the gym, so I was wondering if anyone could suggest a solid training program? My main focus is strengthening my legs and back. I’m out on my bike every single day, but it doesn't seem to be quite enough on its own. Any advice would be great. Thanks!
