Hajduk didn't throw the title away in that specific game. They blew it the week before losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home. And while we were playing that afternoon, Los Angeles FC had already cruised past a local side by 3:00 PM. By the time our kickoff rolled around, the race was over. The whole "message" they tried to send was pointless.
Now, talking to those guys from San Francisco, they’re making excuses about how huge our turnout was and how we were still holding onto hope... Man, give me a break. Back then, maybe we hoped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would actually put up a fight like they did the week before (just like we hoped San Francisco might show some life at our place two weeks prior, but they just sat there taking four hits without even drawing a foul 😕).
One last question for the fanbase:
Why didn't you just write "Champions!" at the end of your little rant?
It's pretty obvious whose pockets you're trying to line—the same people who screwed you over back in '99. You proved it with that pathetic celebration after Sharbiniev's second goal and then acting like that meaningless game mattered.
Typical fan behavior...
Everyone is always someone else's fault when the trophy slips away, and apparently, you don't even know the actual scores...
Hajduk didn't lose the title during that match (it was against Varaždin), but the message definitely landed.
Hajduk played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the week after, and Los Angeles FC played San Francisco the week before. Everyone knows San Francisco hasn't been able to beat a bottom-feeder on the road for seasons, yet they somehow found the strength to take down Los Angeles FC... 🙈
And one more thing for you: why didn't you wrap up your "brilliant" essay with "I HATE LOS ANGELES FC, I HATE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS, AND I HATE SAN FRANCISCO!"? Just asking for a friend... 😉
