@ruggedtiger66/">@@ruggedtiger66, hope you gave him a wave while you were passing him at the light. That's my move—just a huge grin like we're old buddies 🙂

We both waved and gave each other those fake-ass smiles 😁

I usually just hop onto the path once I hit the congestion.

Drove down a main stretch in Chicago around 5 PM the other day. Traffic was crawling at basically bike speed, but some idiot behind me kept laying on his horn because he clearly thinks cyclists don't belong on the road.

The road layout is garbage—you can't even stay in the right lane because it's a dedicated bus lane, and if you're riding in that lane, no car can pass you since there's a solid line on the left. Plus, the lane is so wide a bike takes up half the space.

Guy finally swerved around me on the bus lane, honking like a maniac, just to sit at a red light 30 meters ahead.

The best east-west route (starting from the Črnomerec Center) goes via Klaić—it’s got a bike lane—all the way to Fanka where you gotta turn behind the ramp. Don't cross the tracks; just take Frank over to Gradišće which runs parallel to the Barun Filipović approach. The path is a bit rough, but it's packed down fine. From there, it's straight to Pliva on an asphalt road with zero traffic. At Pliva, hang a left onto the Barun approach and head toward Črnomerec...

Minimal lights, pedestrians, and cars. No streetcars either. I've tried every route out there; this one is the fastest and the least stressful. You can only beat it on Broadway if traffic is dead and you're sprinting through tram lanes fighting red lights.

The route in the pic basically has no lights (just one at the start and one at the end).

Dropped some cash on a The North Face jacket and some Columbia gear for my legs, then spent basically the whole winter commuting by bike. I dodged most of the rain by checking the weather radar (and just staying late at the office if the storm wouldn't clear out 😁 )

The only times I actually stayed off the bike were when the trails were iced over or buried in heavy snow.
