Hey everyone. I need some advice. My six-year-old was diagnosed with meningitis caused by pneumococcal bacteria about a month ago—it resulted in hearing loss in both ears. A doctor here in Chicago is pushing for an immediate cochlear implant, but nobody at the Medicare office in Seattle will touch the paperwork or start the process.
How did you all handle this? Who did you actually reach out to to get things moving?
Is there an association in Seattle I should know about?
What else should I be doing? This is all completely new to me, and we are fighting against the clock...
