Breast lumps and pain: What should I know? in Women's Health ·
I suppose I should probably share my thoughts on this, though I often wonder if I simply enjoy the sound of my own internal monologue too much to be truly helpful to anyone else. It’s a bit of a habit of mine, I admit, to drift off into these long-winded reflections when a topic catches my eye, much like how one might find themselves lost in the aisles of a massive Barnes & Noble on a rainy Tuesday afternoon, just wandering without any real destination in mind. Anyway, I was thinking about the way we all seem to navigate these complex systems—whether it's the healthcare maze at the Mayo Clinic or just trying to make sense of our daily routines—and how easily we can lose sight of the small, quiet moments that actually give everything its rhythm. It isn't always about the grand gestures, is it? Sometimes it's just the steady, unassuming flow of things. I tend to overthink these matters, which I know can be a bit exhausting for those listening, but there's a certain comfort in letting the thoughts wander where they may. kaže:
I am absolutely down for that, no question about it. 😉 Thank you so much. Honestly, there is a certain comfort in knowing that I’m not just going through this alone; it really helps to feel like someone else understands. I have a feeling my hormones are probably just playing tricks on me right now, making everything feel a bit more intense than it actually is. 😉 :*

Well, hello there, dear... I happened to stumble upon this website today while I was browsing around. It actually covers quite a range of topics—everything from dealing with breast tenderness to various herbal teas and even creams specifically designed to help soothe that discomfort. It’s all a bit sketchy, though, if you ask me. 😉 I was reading this lovely little piece about how much joy there is in tending to indoor plants, and honestly, it really spoke to my soul. There’s just something about the quiet, slow rhythm of nurturing a living thing—watching a new leaf unfurl after you've spent weeks worrying if you overwatered it—that feels so grounding when life gets a bit too chaotic. It’s almost like a form of meditation, isn't it? I find myself wandering through the aisles of Home Depot or even just browsing local nurseries on a Sunday morning, feeling that gentle pull toward more greenery. Of course, I am far from an expert. I have definitely had my fair share of "botanical tragedies" where a perfectly healthy fern decided to give up the ghost right under my care, which always leaves me feeling a bit guilty and questioning my green thumb. But that’s the beauty of it, I suppose; you learn from the wilted leaves and try again. It’s a constant cycle of trial and error. Anyway, I was thinking about what Chloe Thompson33 mentioned the other day regarding how much easier it is to relax when your living room looks like a tiny jungle, and I couldn't agree more. Even if my plants aren't always thriving quite as gracefully as they should, the mere presence of them makes the whole apartment feel more alive and less like just four walls and a ceiling. Does anyone else find themselves talking to their succulents? Because I definitely do, and I’m starting to think it might be time to seek professional help, though I doubt a therapist could offer better advice than a good watering schedule.

Batinica advised me to look into, since we only track the maternal lineage for this—then staying on top of regular screenings becomes pretty essential; specifically, getting an ultrasound every six months. It’s just one of those things you can't ignore, especially since my grandmother on my mom's side passed away from breast cancer, so I really ought to be sticking to that six-month checkup schedule. I actually went in for an exam quite recently, which was a relief, even though I'll admit I had let two whole years slip by without getting checked before that. 🙄 I shall certainly be more mindful moving forward.

I know this isn't easy to deal with, but please try to keep a positive outlook. If I were in your shoes, I think I would go out of my way to seek a second opinion. Perhaps you could schedule an appointment with dr. podolski, whom Linda Ward312 mentioned to you, or maybe find some other highly regarded oncologist to talk to.

Thank you all so much, ladies. 😍
Yeah, if you look at my mother's side of the family, that particular brand of wildness definitely runs a bit deeper. 🙄 Even though it wasn't exactly a widespread issue when it came to breast cancer specifically... well, I suppose that's not really the most important point to dwell on, is it? The reality is that everyone ended up losing their battle with some form of cancer. 😢 😢
Now that I've finished up with my neurology appointment, I'm thinking it might be time to schedule that next ultrasound. I’ll definitely make an effort to head over to that specific clinic; their pricing is actually quite reasonable, which is a relief. Though, I have to admit, a few of the ladies in the waiting room seemed to be stuck there for quite a while, so I suppose I should prepare myself for a bit of a wait. 😉

I actually went in for an ultrasound back in May, and everything came back perfectly normal, yet the pain persists and no one ever mentioned anything about fibrocystic changes... 🙄 The left side is particularly painful since it’s just a bit larger than the right... and whenever I get that sharp, searing sensation or the discomfort intensifies, I find myself unable to function normally; I honestly just die a little inside from the fear of it all. Over the last two months, the pain has been especially bad, but since I was just checked out recently, I feel like I can't really do much about it. I feel quite lonely in this, really, because none of my girlfriends deal with anything even remotely similar, so being able to share this burden with you all is the only thing that helps.😕

Oh, please don't worry, dear... 😉 It doesn't necessarily mean you have fibrocystic breast disease. Just because they hurt doesn't mean there's a diagnosis waiting for you. That specific condition usually refers to having tissue that is more prone to developing cysts or tumors, which is unfortunate, but... 🙄 😢
So many women experience breast pain—it's simply part of life for some... but, well... I have heard there are certain herbal teas and topical creams designed to relax the tissue that can truly help manage the discomfort... so perhaps look into those a little bit... just do some research... don't worry.😉

There is also a specific dedicated thread regarding surgeries for fibroadenomas and benign tumors here:

If you happen to be looking for more information regarding breast ultrasounds, you might want to take a peek over at this link:

As for myself, I was actually just at Quest Diagnostics recently seeing Batinica—though I went through my insurance referral, so there wasn't any out-of-pocket cost for me—and I honestly found the experience quite reassuring; the exam was very thorough, starting with a manual palpation before moving on to the ultrasound portion.

Regarding your other question, I'm afraid I'm not quite sure what to suggest, as I simply haven't had any personal experience with that particular situation. I truly hope the other ladies here might be able to offer you some guidance.
What did your doctor end up recommending?

I used to see a private specialist, dr. kos, who was truly an expert when it came to breast exams... but unfortunately, he passed away recently.. 😢
The conversation back then was mostly centered around whether we would need to go through with surgery if there was any significant growth..
and that’s pretty much where we left it.. 🤷 however, lately, I've been talking to several people who have shared stories that have left me feeling rather frightened, and now I find myself in a state of complete confusion.. apparently, there is this teeny, tiny possibility that things could turn malignant, and that thought has been weighing heavily on my mind 😢 especially since I have all the predispositions for it... the fibrocystic issues, and then there is the family history.. in my family, almost everyone passed away from cancer 😢 😢 and on top of all that, I suppose I am a bit of a hypochondriac myself.
I'm also hoping to figure out the actual severity of my condition, though I don't really know how that works.. I just know that I have it, and my breasts hurt so terribly. It's just awful!

I thought I’d start a little thread specifically dedicated to breast health... 🙂
I’ve been scrolling through various discussions and noticed quite a few women mentioning concerns or issues, yet I haven't come across one single, organized space where we can all touch base on this specific topic.

On that note, I was wondering if anyone could point me toward a reliable private clinic here in New York City for an ultrasound? About a year ago, I was diagnosed with fibrocystic changes and a benign tumor on my left breast, so now it’s become one of those things I have to monitor quite regularly to stay on top of everything. 🙄

In your experience, do you think it’s wiser to just go ahead and opt for surgery right away, or is it better to simply leave things be and keep a close eye on any changes that might pop up?
