I’m looking for the lowdown on fistula surgery since I’ve got it coming up soon. Is this just a routine procedure? What’s the damage cost-wise? Also, what kind of testing am I looking at beforehand? How long am I stuck in the hospital, and how much downtime should I plan for during recovery?
I'm 18. A year ago, I found this lump near my anus—not sure what the medical term is—so I went to see a surgeon. He told me it was related to hemorrhoids, and since there was pus in the lump, he drained and cleaned it out. Fast forward one year, and there’s still this little wound about half an inch wide. It leaks pus two or three times a week, and the drainage is seriously irritating my skin and making it painful to walk. What should I do?
