Check out Marks & Spencer at the mall or the big shopping centers downtown. C&A usually carries stuff like that too, but honestly—the quality is pretty mid and the fabric feels cheap.
What’s the damage on prices and shipping at M&S? I need two dressier options—but I refuse to wear plastic. I'm looking for high-end fabrics, stuff like silk. Right now, Marks & Spencer is a total bust—nothing interesting there. Is there anywhere else worth checking out?
Seriously? I went, and honestly, I left feeling totally let down. This was the first sale where I didn't end up buying a single thing. At H&M-, they just marked down stuff that was already overpriced—same story at C&A. Those skinny jeans are $50, those lacey, pajama-style tops that stretch out like old gum are $33, and at H&M-, basically everything is only available in size 3XL It’s the same mess at C&A. Wrinkled, baggy shirts that look like $43, skirts that aren't even... This isn't even a sale—it's just a lack of choice. Nothing offered here works for a young person, and nothing works for someone my age in their prime. Marks & Spencer's also has up to 50% off, but man, they are a disappointment too. Their cuts and fabrics are great, but here in the States, they are ridiculously expensive. I actually ordered from the M&S website directly from the UK—two pairs of classic trousers, a pencil dress (all viscose/elastane blend), and a short wool coat. With shipping, it came to £39. Basically, for about $133, I got four solid pieces. Toss in a blouse, a pashmina, and a necklace I already owned, and I'm perfectly put together for work. Around here, $133 barely gets you one pair of pants, and that's it. Sure, H&M- has some tiger-print skinnies for $12, but that's not office attire. I’d be embarrassed to wear that to a hike or the gym.
Man, those clearance sales at Target are such a letdown. The boho-style maxi skirts are actually decent at $10.00, and they go up to size 28, too. Blazers and trousers are sitting at $39.90. They’ve also got some lighter jackets for around $69.90.
Yeah, I exclusively wear Marks & Spencer—size 16. Their panties are perfect, but I haven’t seen anything larger than a size 22 around here, which is basically an American size 12-14. Over there, they actually carry bigger sizes. I once picked up some panties at H&M that looked absolutely gorgeous. After two or three washes, the lace turned totally gray and they looked pathetic—and they weren't exactly cheap either.$20. Their nightgowns are great, though. I bought those sleeveless ones in two-packs, size Large, and they're awesome. Just the right amount of loose and comfy. They look like summer house dresses, so I can just stroll to the bathroom without grabbing a robe when I'm staying at my mom's or hosting guests. I also have three pairs with sleeves, and they're at least 4 or 5 years old now—still just as good. The bras from H&M are terrible, and the ones from Victoria's Secret aren't much better. I don't dare order from catalogs because I really need to try things on first. Case in point: I was trying on a camisole at M&S the other day, and even though I usually shop their brand, the bra was too small. I had to go up two cup sizes even though it looked fine to my eye. So, same brand, completely different cuts. How am I supposed to guess from a distance? Nowhere.
Kik carries everything from basic underwear to nightgowns up to size XL. That’s what I saw. C&A has larger sizes too, though I’m not positive about their lingerie or sleepwear selection. Their nightgowns are actually great. I’ve been wearing them for years—honestly.
Hit the Westgate Mall today—hit up H&M, C&A, and Marks & Spencer. H&M? Total waste of time. Their "mature" section is just overpriced, shapeless rags that hang off you weirdly. And those "sale" items? Most of them look like they’ve been gathering dust since last year—or maybe the year before. Just stale stuff hanging on racks for months. C&A's discounts are a joke. Like, a maxi skirt marked down from 150 to $40, or a linen blazer from $133 to $100... give me a break. Marks & Spencer is still my absolute go-to. They actually have sales up to 70%—even more on winter gear. Grabbed two sweaters from their Cashmilion line for just $13 each—they were originally $53. Plenty of stock left, too, even in larger sizes up to a US 16. Their workwear section has gorgeous blouses and trousers up to a US 18, all at half price. That dress I’ve been eyeing—waiting for it to drop from $227—is finally down to $110. Also, a 5-pack of underwear is now $20, down from $43. They fit me perfectly. Seriously. Love them. Swimsuits and cover-ups are half off, too. Great selection, plus you can buy tops and bottoms separately. Huge win for me, since I usually need two sizes smaller on the bottom than the top. Plus, the bra clasps are actual metal, not that cheap plastic crap that snaps instantly. And the straps are decent—wider and padded. A bikini top like that goes for $43. I've seen much lower quality versions at Victoria's Secret for $117 or even more. Their cotton and linen tees—or whatever blends they use—are between $10 and 50. Honestly, a steal because the fabric is top-tier. I’ve been wearing their tees for years.
Lisa Myers said:Never tuck your shirt in. It looks fine in photos, but in real life? Not if you have a belly. Absolutely not.
Exactly. Those pictures are obviously Photoshopped—especially that last one. There's no way women with that build have a perfect waistline and zero belly. Impossible.
You can always get an MRI, but honestly, it’s probably nothing. Nearly half the population has this without any symptoms or issues—and no, it definitely doesn't need treatment. There’s nothing to "fix" here. Just keep an eye on it. The pineal gland—that's the epiphyseal gland—is what actually handles your sleep cycle anyway. If you're still feeling uneasy, go talk to a neurologist; they'll clear everything up for you. Either way—no need to panic.
Yeah, but I actually have this one empire waist dress from Madewell. Picked it up at a clearance sale three years ago for basically pennies. I was skeptical at first—honestly, I thought it would be a bust—but it turned out great and fits me perfectly. Plus, when I'm at the beach, I can wear it without a bra and it still holds everything in nicely. Madewell usually has tons of stuff, and most of it isn't exactly cheap, but hey—that one dress made me give them another shot.
I hit up Macy's and found absolutely nothing. Beach dresses and loungewear are sitting at $69.90—they have a few styles, sure, but none of it works for me. I actually spotted a similar cut over at Old Navy. Same price point, but honestly? The material is way thicker and higher quality, plus they come in solid colors. Macy's also has these two other models for about $47 that look like some sort of linen-cotton blend. They’re sleeveless and don't look terrible, I guess, but it’s just too much cash for that kind of flimsy quality. Checked out $10 as well—nothing there either. Not even a single clearance rack in sight.
Saw a gorgeous piece at Macy's today, but honestly—it’s a bit out of my budget; $227 so now I'm just playing the waiting game for the sale. $50 It’s not really that much for a dress, assuming it’s actually your style and you love it. I don't pick up clothes at local flea markets, so I can't really weigh in on that. Usually, I just wear whatever feels comfortable and looks good—which, for me, means mini skirts, long skirts, sundresses, and shorts...
Lisa Myers said:Those lashes lasted you two whole months?! That is an incredible amount of time! 🤣
Yeah, it really is a lot. Mine were expensive linen—last year’s batch—and they were pricey. After just one wear, they started pilling, and within five more? The fabric basically just gave up and started fraying apart. My legs are weak as hell—but whatever, I'm doing it anyway. When I was lighter, I didn't deal with any of this—so clearly, the only fix is to lose the weight.
Kate Rodriguez84 said:I’m actually going to lose my mind 🙂 Every single pair of pants I own falls apart within six months. How do you stop this advanced crotch blowout? It doesn't even matter if they were expensive or cheap—material makes zero difference at this point... everything just shreds.
Lose weight :-) Just kidding—but honestly, your pants are gonna wear out every time because of the friction while you walk.
