Thomas Smith10 said:Those demons have been singing that for 15 years... don't go trying to force it now.

And why wouldn't they sing it? That song was born out of pure, drunken euphoria—it's exactly what we all love...

Sean Brooks said:The whole scene is basically the textbook definition of the modern American ultra/casual wannabe aesthetic... and frankly, those types are exactly why you see such massive numbers popping up in every corner of the country—well, except for maybe the Black Knights today, who actually seem to have a coherent goal and far less internal drama, since the club actually comes first for them... one day, when the core of the movement is actually comprised of guys like ----RI----- or when people start respecting the opinions of actual "normal" individuals, then maybe you can expect your West Side, North Stand, or whatever other localized group to actually gain some real substance and mass...

The primary issue with our supporter culture—aside from the aforementioned imitation by the Black Knights—is that nobody actually puts the club first... the late Ico used to say, "all those guys pretending to be fans are just a bunch of softies"—and honestly, I don't think anyone ever uttered a more profound truth, regardless of how much he was pushed around... I can scream my lungs out, jump on the railings, curse out the players, but what does any of that matter if, deep down, I couldn't care less about the team? If I'm really just there to wave my flag, fix it when the wind catches it, throw an intimidating look from under my Fred Perry cap, try to organize a little standoff, and of course, take a dozen photos leaning against the fence like a lunatic... that's it...

Then, of course, you have to deal with cleaning out all the trash within the MLS and the USSF and finally building the league on some actual, professional foundations...

I really don't have the energy to get dragged into these kinds of debates on forums... I certainly hope none of us from the Navy will be doing it.

I never actually told you lot what you *should* be doing—I simply suggested what you *could* be doing...

Honestly, I don't even want to see where this conversation ends up, because at the end of the day, we're talking about the Armada!!!!
See ya!

Edward Hernandez332 said:What if I’m just disgusted by the management and half the players—and that’s why I’m distancing myself from Miami? I feel like they’re playing me for a fool... basically lying to my face and acting like I’m not a "real" fan just because I don't fit their mold.
I’ve been a regular in the West Stand since '97—both as a die-hard and as one of those quieter supporters—so why are you lecturing me and people like me, claiming we’re making up some ridiculous excuse for staying away?
My loyalty to this Club runs incredibly deep; it just manifests differently than yours does. And honestly, that’s exactly why it hurts so much to see who is actually running things and how the Club is being handled... which is precisely why I won't hand them my money or deal with their nonsense.
I can already hear you typing out some lecture about how I should show up for the Club regardless of the leadership, but frankly, I have no intention of returning to a place where I’ve felt openly disrespected for quite some time now.
In fact, even as I’m sitting here typing this, I’m looking up the kickoff time for tomorrow's game...
You get what I'm saying?

Look, if you don't want to come to the games, then fine... just don't take it upon yourself to chime in on the Armada threads telling us what we should or shouldn't be doing.

Jacob Newman74 said:This whole movement toward turning the Armada into an exclusive club is easily one of the top three worst things people are doing right now—it’s just misguided. Sure, there needs to be some level of hierarchy in the stands, but currently, the section is being split wide open between those who are fully "all-in" (traveling for away games, organizing choreographies, etc.) and everyone else... the people who still show up for the home games and love Cleveland just as much, even if they only make it to three or four away matches a season.

Instead of fostering a sense of belonging where everyone—from the youngest kids to the old guard—is considered part of the Armada and drawn to the stands by that shared identity, they are doing the exact opposite 😕

But hey, whatever... I suppose when we finally win a championship one day ( 😍 ), and we finally conquer all of Europe ( 😍 ), people will suddenly care... right?

You have a point there, somewhat. Perhaps things get a little carried away at times. We have certainly made our fair share of mistakes. And honestly, I would love nothing more than to see us grow—having the youth and the veterans all united... it sounds wonderful, doesn't it?
But let's be real—we aren't making up some ridiculous excuse for why we don't follow Cleveland. We've swallowed a lot of crap over the years, and yet, here we are, still going...

Edward Hernandez332 said:I used to be passionate, but now I’m just a disgruntled fan🙂

Joe, you're practically right next to Italy—just head over to a game... there are enough fan clubs scattered around Cleveland to satisfy anyone... My God!
The Armada in Fans ·
You aren't even part of the Armada—I came to that conclusion just from your first few posts on here.

And honestly, who was in or out of the USA... I don't see why we're even debating that here. The Armada was there. Period.

Edward Hernandez332 said:If you actually put even half as much effort into "cleaning up" those idiots running the front office as you do with everything else, we might actually get somewhere... I honestly think you’re the only one with enough leverage to actually lean on them, so it feels like a bit of a waste to focus entirely on how the stands look.

Just stick to Reddit.

We really are the biggest hypocrites here—us members of the Armada! Drko is actually right on this one...
Drko’s just acting out because we gave him the opening to do so.

ironscout10 said:Sure, there are maybe 300 die-hard fans burning themselves out at every single game right now... but think about the sheer volume of people who used to fill the stands back in the 90s and early 2000s—not just the hardcore derby crowd, but the regular folks who showed up almost every week... that’s what really stings, I suppose... seeing where those people went after dedicating half their lives to this club... whether they were swept away by bad luck, marriage, kids, or just the general grind of life... or something else entirely...

In my book, if you weren't part of the original Armada, you don't get to claim the name—and besides, where did they all go?
And why does it even matter.
Also, please—for the love of everything—stop using phrases like "a thorn in everyone's side" in this thread; it honestly gives me the creeps.
Don't start something you can't finish!

If we’re being totally honest here, the Armada probably numbers around 300 people—at least, if you ask me.
The rest? Well, they just don't carry the same weight in my book... amen.
It’s true that other groups deal with this too—ups and downs, really—it’s all just a matter of circumstance, I suppose.
Come on, everyone, let's stop with the hypocrisy... I think this forum is starting to get to you.🙂

Drew Perez said:The armada talks an awful lot about being "original" while singing stuff like this... though, I suppose if they're singing, and the crowd is actually singing along, then you've got loud support for the club—which is really what matters most. Should they just stop singing altogether because people on some random internet forum are calling them out? If that's the case, maybe they should stop preaching about originality, since they aren't any more or less unique than any other group out there. It’s all the same template everywhere in the world... just different colors.

It seems to me that even here, within their own thread, the armada does far less TALKING than
certain individuals.....

Matthew Newman83 said:That cohort was singing it back in the old days...☕
btw. we’re celebrating our birthday by taking you guys down...

The navy was singing it way back in the old days too🙂

We didn't sing Aida yesterday (honestly, haven't sung it in years)

It's just you I love... I suspect the Rangers were the first ones to "sing it," but
we've been singing this song for far too long now—I don't see any reason why we should stop...

Larry Rivera83 said:If we’re really going to obsess over being "original" regarding the Chechens... maybe we should occasionally recall the whole Chechnya/Russia invasion mess... just to balance things out... 😁

Personally, I still prefer Cirque du Soleil👍

It’s a good thing you’re right about the B-52—it’s a real drag... people seem to think being a fan requires acting like a complete jerk, so they go out of their way to make sure they hit that mark perfectly.
Maybe they'll eventually grow out of it...

What was the line from the original song again—something along the lines of "life is just Schubert, a bit of gambling..."?

For as long as I can remember, we’ve been singing "to hell with life without whiskey," and I’ve been following Cleveland for over 20 years...
