Eating paper? in Health ·
"Cellulose and hemicellulose are essentially indigestible carbohydrates within the human body; unless even a tiny fraction of them gets broken down by the bacteria naturally living in a healthy person's large intestine, they just pass right through you. Beyond just keeping things moving, these fibers act like a sponge, soaking up massive amounts of water—we're talking up to 15 times their own weight."

Man, eating stuff like that can't possibly be good for you... it's not like we're talking about finely ground wood used in paper towels; there's probably a whole heap of chemicals involved too.... I really think someone needs to warn her ASAP... especially her mom... this girl is basically poisoning herself while she's just sitting there thinking about how great it looks...
It's honestly terrifying what people are putting in their bodies these days.
Metabolism issues... any tips? in Health ·
Hey everyone...

Quick question for you all...
I’ve been falling down a bit of a rabbit hole reading through these threads about weight loss and metabolism because, let's be real, I've got some extra weight to lose... I actually went to see my doctor and asked him to recommend a specific diet for me, since, you know, he's a medical professional and should probably know best... I've tried a ton of those "crash diets" before where I'd drop about 15 pounds pretty quickly, but of course, it always just comes right back after a while...
So, he ended up prescribing this diet—nothing crazy, it basically just boils down to counting calories, which means I have to weigh everything 😢— 🤷
and he mentioned that since he's been my physician for such a long time, he can tell my metabolism is incredibly sluggish, so he suggested I might want to try some supplements to give it a little kick, maybe by asking at a local CVS... That was my plan anyway, but I really wanted to get your take first and see if there's anything you guys would personally recommend...

Just to be clear, we're talking about exercise + dieting + supplements... not just popping pills and calling it a day...
