Europe in Music ·
Well, I guess I’ll jump in here too...🙂
Of course, I’m a huge fan of Europe, I just really feel their music, you know? It’s one of those things where music is totally subjective, but for me, they aren't some kind of trashy act, they lean much more into that classic glam rock vibe and stuff like that...
I’m actually trying to collect their entire discography, though I only have a fraction of it so far. I absolutely love songs that have basically become anthems, like The Final countdown. Then there's Dreamer, open Your Heart, Seven doors hotel, Superstitious, and I can't forget that one instrumental piece—Aphasia😍.
Even though I was only born in the early 80s, I just love that whole musical era... and while Queen and Scorpions are probably my absolute favorites when it comes to that kind of sound, Europe is definitely right up there with them.
I haven't had a chance to listen to the new album yet, but I'm really curious about it, so once I give it a spin, I'll let you all know what I think...
dustyrider9 said:We actually went out, and it was our first time wandering around town with the baby just to pick up some daffodils for Grandma and everyone else we wanted to brighten up... and then we stumbled upon a Krijesnica stand, so the girls got some cute new t-shirts, though we did end up getting soaked by the rain. Honestly, that was the best part of the day, but now things have taken a turn for the worse... my sister called me (she’s staying at Mom’s tonight) saying she’s having a really hard time with a nosebleed that just won't stop, and I'm really hoping she doesn't have to call an ambulance.
Has anyone dealt with nosebleeds being a side effect of chemo (she had her first round about 9 days ago) or maybe certain pain meds? If anyone is online tonight, I'm really waiting on some insight...
Thanks so much in advance!

I really don't want to scare anyone, but my own mom had a situation where her nose was bleeding so heavily... even at the ER, they couldn't get it to quit. It turns out it was because her platelet count dropped way too low. Her numbers plummeted from around 36 all the way down to 5!😲 And usually, you want to stay well above 100... She ended up needing a transfusion, which helped for about two days before it happened all over again.😢😢😢 It's all a bit fuzzy when I try to look back on it, but I just want to share this in case it helps someone else...
Just a heads up, in those kinds of situations, you might also see bleeding from the gums or bruising easily on the skin...

Hang in there, ladies...🙂🙂
redharbor23, thank you so much for the advice and all the support... It really means a lot. My dad actually went into the clinic near Downtown today to see if they could get his pain under control better, and they gave him some patches, so I'm just crossing my fingers that they provide some relief. Honestly, the hardest part is feeling like I can't be there for her as much as I want to be. I’ve got a three-month-old baby in my arms right now, plus my two-year-old who's home with us, and since it's usually just us girls, things get pretty overwhelming... even though seeing the kids always cheers Mom up, it's also just so exhausting for her. So, if I'm typing this a bit sporadically, it's because I'm currently holding a tiny human...
"If she had just had those markers checked back in late 2008, they almost certainly would have caught something by now, especially since they're so high today, and they would have had so much more time and a much better chance"😢

First off, I honestly don't know what to say... I went through something very similar quite recently, and man, it was a whirlwind...😢😢😢 Just try not to let those marker numbers drive you crazy, because they can be such a fickle thing. Back in November 2008, my mom's CA 15-3 levels were at 3 25, and then just three months later, when everything really started escalating, they jumped to 250. And after that, everything seemed to stabilize for a while. Just focus on making Mom as comfortable as possible right now. Sending you so much strength...🙂
Does anyone actually know if an oncologist is required to send a woman with breast cancer that’s spread to the local lymph nodes for a bone scan?😕 It’s always been such a mystery to me... I see so many women getting those scans, but nobody ever suggested one for my mom🤷, and then at the very end, a CT scan reveals there were metastases in her spine and ribs all along?

I also had another question—Angela Wright, do you happen to know what the deal is with that colorectal cancer screening program? I have this feeling like things have stalled. Specifically, I’ve heard that some people received their notices while others didn't... For instance, my dad never got anything in the mail.
Angela Wright said:🙂...I’m so sorry, but just like everything else in this life, this too shall pass, and you’ll find your way back to yourself again. You might be a different person because of it, but you will be okay.
Make sure you cherish every single second you get with her and tell her how much she means to you. I used to tell my mom all the time, but looking back now, it feels like I didn't say it nearly enough... it honestly never feels like enough. 😢
Stay strong.

I couldn't agree more!

This is actually my first time posting on this forum, and wow, there are so many heavy stories and such intense battles being shared here. Honestly, this particular one hits closer to home than anything else I've read. This past spring, I lost my mother when she was 54... she had breast cancer.
I truly wish everyone here nothing but a much, much better New Year, and my heart goes out to all the members fighting illness and their loved ones, hoping for healing for everyone.
I really wish I could just vent and let it all out because I feel weighed down by a hundred different worries... we never asked for any of this.😢 But I guess we just have to find a way to carry it.
On another note, does anyone here happen to have experience dealing with inflammatory breast cancer? It’s relatively rare, so I was wondering if anyone knows anything about it.
And as for you, Dana Miller2, I really believe you’re going to pull through this in time. For me, those two months leading up to my mom passing were a complete nightmare... and then the grief just settled in... but things feel a tiny bit lighter now. Just hang in there as best as you can.🙂
