There is zero chance I’m ever watching parts two or three.
The most baffling thing about this whole disaster is how they market it, claiming the script was written by Steven Spielberg. It’s technically true, but it’s honestly unbelievable.
How does someone with an actual reputation in global cinema attach their name to a script for an Uber movie—which, let’s be honest, any average Joe in a small town in the Midwest could have scribbled down in an hour or two—without dying of pure embarrassment? Not too long ago, back when people actually cared about their dignity, a script like this would have just been credited to:
ALAN SMITHEE.
I don't really get why you're so bitter that this movie even exists in the first place? Personally, those Mexican soap operas they run on TV drive me absolutely insane... every time I accidentally flip to one, I feel a genuine fear that the television might spontaneously combust from the sheer agony of it all... but I don't start a war with people every time someone comments on some random episode of whatever garbage series is airing.
Why would anyone die of shame when these movies are being screened and making money? Clearly, they’re turning a profit, otherwise someone like Steven Spielberg wouldn't bother making two sequels out of pure perversion or just to give people something to fight about.
As for ALAN SMITHEE, that’s the name used when a director is stripped of their vision because the studio changed everything until it looks nothing like what they intended to film; it’s not what a writer uses when they realize their own script is garbage. When that happens, the film isn't even truly finished.
Besides, just as I’ll never understand why you felt the need to go to war over such a popular film, you’re never going to understand why other people think it’s actually good. So, in the future, if you hate a movie and a fan asks for opinions, it's enough to just say 'I didn't like it.'
Simple enough?
