I’ve gotta back this one up. To me, Justin Timberlake is just a decent enough performer who might stumble into a catchy little tune now and then (depending on who you ask), but overall? Nothing special, at least not to my ears. And look, it’s pretty easy to see why his voice gets under people's skin—it sits somewhere right between a duckling and a cat being pulled by its tail.
Bottom line, I don't even need to argue that there's plenty of music out there that isn't just bad, but straight-up atrocious compared to his stuff.
He’s basically in the same tier as Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, and those other modern semi-emo artists whose music doesn't really hit any notes either way, but occasionally manages to shimmer. It all feels too soft and watered down for me to ever call any of them actually great. More like background noise for your morning coffee.
