How did we get to this point where someone like Shakira or Taylor Swift (whoever) fills up clubs and cash registers? It's embarrassing.
In Canada or Mexico, you won't really find this kind of pop playing in every single bar and club.
In Mexico, young people look down on this stuff, yet here in America, we welcome it with open arms. We act like total hillbillies, and yet we claim we want to be part of the global elite?
Please, as long as this level of rural ignorance persists among us, I can only facepalm...
And I am so done with this music being everywhere—on every corner, downtown, in every single cafe... an invasion of the unrefined... nothing but low-class nonsense... that's what their music represents...
I just wanted to offer a little perspective on your "logic," so please don't take it personally.
It’s true there is a lot of low-quality music coming out of the North America (though we have plenty here too—whatever exists there, exists here), but don't compare a legend like Frank Sinatra to some random pop starlet; that's a sin. First, do a quick search on Sinatra, look at his career, listen to his classics. Look, I'm not forcing you, you don't have to. What I mean is, even if certain songs and lyrics make me nauseous, you can't lump everything into one category of "trash." These styles differ, and so does the quality. You can't put someone like Johnny Cash in the same bucket as a generic pop act singing about driving a Porsche or a BMW.
Also, where are you getting the idea that you won't find this music in Canada or Mexico? Young people there don't despise it entirely—not at all—but there will always be those who love it and those who don't. Some people prefer techno or trance, others go to rock concerts. People have different tastes and styles.
The European Union? Who actually wants to be there? Not us. Only our government does. Even in Congress, they play this stuff during breaks...
All in all, why label it all "hillbilly behavior"? Would you demand that everyone goes to the Metropolitan Opera House?
Yeah, then we'd definitely be part of the global elite, wouldn't we?
