I was thinking about this the other day while playing some newer shooters. It feels like there's a very specific "template" for action games now—the pacing, the way the tension builds before a massive firefight, even the way the protagonists talk. It’s effective, sure, but it also feels incredibly formulaic.

It makes me wonder how much of what we consider "standard" gameplay mechanics actually started as just trying to replicate the vibe of certain big-budget movies from decades ago. I remember being a kid and seeing certain sci-fi flicks that completely changed my idea of what "cool" looked like, and then a few years later, every game I picked up was trying to mimic that exact same aesthetic.

Do you guys think we've reached a point where game design is just a collection of recycled cinematic tropes, or is there still room for something truly groundbreaking that doesn't rely on those old-school blueprints?

I am dealing with some massive issues regarding my back. Does anyone have a recommendation for a specialist in Chicago? Ideally someone in private practice. I’m certain I’ll need imaging done as well, so if you could also suggest a good place for X-rays or an MRI, I would truly appreciate it. Hvala
