I honestly don't get the obsession with these mid-summer friendly matches. Every year, we see the massive clubs flying halfway across the world to play in front of packed stadiums, and then everyone acts like it's a tragedy when they don't dominate the game. It feels more like a glorified marketing tour than actual preparation for the real season.

I remember watching a big club struggle through a series of these exhibition games a few years back, and the media went absolutely wild, acting like the team was fundamentally broken because they couldn't keep a clean sheet against a club from a different continent. It’s just not the same level of intensity. The players are exhausted from travel, the humidity is killing them, and the stakes are basically zero.

If a team's momentum is truly fragile enough to be derailed by a draw in a preseason friendly, are they even ready for the actual league? Are we overvaluing these exhibition results, or do you think they actually serve a purpose for the squad's chemistry?

honestly, just skip those AL2200 models or whatever similar junk they're pushing—they're basically two pieces glued together at the head with some cheap adhesive, and it’s just asking for trouble.

I’ve been using this cheap Victor for $43, and honestly, it’s done the job just fine for the ten or so times I’ve hit the courts at 🙂.
But now, I’m actually looking to upgrade to something decent. I’ve been doing the whole deep dive online, and it seems like the choice really boils down to Victor or Yonex—though Yonex is crazy expensive, and Victor is still a bit of a stretch. If you had the cash to burn, which one would you actually pull the trigger on?
Right now, my eyes are set on the Victor dual pipa 8000 hi fibre Magan.
