I was browsing some sports gear online today and saw a massive redesign for one of the biggest national squads in the world. It got me thinking about how much we cling to tradition, even when it’s arguably outdated.

I remember back in the day, my favorite club went through a "modernization" phase. They stripped away all the classic flourishes and replaced them with something so minimalist it looked like a tech company's app icon. I hated it. It felt like they were scrubbing away decades of history just to look "sleek" for a new generation.

There’s a fine line between evolving with the times and just erasing the soul of a team. Sometimes you want that sense of heritage when you pull on a jersey, not something that looks like it was designed in a boardroom by people who have never stepped foot on a pitch.

When a major organization decides to go for a "fresh look," do you think it actually helps their brand, or is it just a way to sell more new merchandise?
There’s nothing that can save my sanity at this point... but that’s a whole other conversation 😁

Yeah, I think I overreacted too. Honestly, I don't even know what I actually cut myself on. It was barely a scratch and lasted maybe a tenth of a second—nothing really had time to get inside. The bleeding started a little later, but I squeezed it all out, so I’m pretty sure I minimized any chance of something nasty happening.
And there’s zero swelling. The wound closed up fast and everything looks fine.
So, about two weeks ago, I was wading through some murky water at a local lake—the kind where you can barely see your feet. When the water hit my chin, I scraped my toe against something on the bottom. It was a clean cut, maybe 2mm wide, possibly a bit deeper. Honestly, I have no clue what it was, just that it was sharp as a razor. Broken glass, a jagged rock, or maybe... a needle?
After I climbed out, I spent about 15 minutes squeezing the blood out of the wound until there was nothing left. Once it hit the sun, it dried up and closed over pretty fast. I actually went back for another quick swim before heading to the urgent care three hours later to get a tetanus shot.
I immediately asked the doctor if there was any risk of catching HIV, hepatitis, or some other fatal nastiness if it had been a needle. She told me that if anything were in the water, it would have already broken down or diluted, so the chances of infection are basically zero. That said, she mentioned that if I’m really going to obsess over it, I could get tested in three months or just go donate blood, since they test everything then anyway.
Now, I'm wondering if there's anyone here with actual expertise who can weigh in?
My friends tell me I'm just being dramatic and running with these fatalistic scenarios. 🤷
