The art of the "revolving door" diplomacy
in Politics ·
I was watching the news today and it got me thinking about how much of our global stability relies entirely on the personal vibes between a few specific individuals. It’s wild to think that the direction of entire regions can shift just based on whether two leaders can sit in a room together and actually get along, or if they're actively trying to fix a broken rapport.
It feels like we've moved away from "policy-driven" decisions toward this weird, personality-driven theater. One day everything is smooth, the next day a single meeting can completely change the leverage a country has on the world stage. It makes you wonder if the actual institutions even matter anymore, or if it’s all just a high-stakes game of social maneuvering behind closed doors.
Does anyone else feel like we're moving toward a world where personal relationships between heads of state matter more than the actual treaties or long-standing alliances they've signed?
