Living with Otosclerosis

I’ve been diagnosed with otosclerosis, and I’ve been dealing with this mess since 2010, though my condition has actually improved since then. I wanted to know if anyone else deals with actual pain. I read online that otosclerosis isn't supposed to be painful, but let me tell you, it hurts like hell. Any loud noise sets me off, and even worse, just touching my ear or anything near it triggers such intense pain that I can't even tell if it's my tooth, my head, my neck, or my ear hurting. It feels like something inside shifts and just throws everything out of whack. Is anyone else experiencing symptoms like this? My doctor was honestly stumped when I brought it up.
By the way, my hearing in that ear has always been a bit weak, but I'm still within the normal range.
Wait, how on earth did your hearing get better? That’s seriously impressive, but it sounds incredibly rare because usually, things just keep getting worse... Did you try some kind of alternative treatment or something, or did it just happen on its own? I’m basically sitting on the fence right now—either I go through with surgery soon or I wait and risk losing my hearing entirely. I honestly have no clue what to do.
