From my perspective, I can see perfectly fine—I don't feel any impairment at all, honestly. I don't even need glasses. And as far as I know, strabismus can't be completely cured, though practically speaking, I haven't had any issues since my surgery. I’d just really like to understand... why would these minor things hold me back? It feels like my lifelong dream is being put on hold over something so small.

Dear sir,
I agree with you that the regulations might seem overly strict, but the law is the law. You
might certainly be able to slip through if an eye doctor decided to look the other way just a little bit
regarding the specifics, but strictly according to the legal requirements, unfortunately, you wouldn't pass.

Best regards,
dr. Dean Šarić
casualgardener23 said:Greetings... I'm not entirely sure where the right place to ask this is, so I'll try here. I suppose I really need a doctor to weigh in on this because it’s quite important to me...

Essentially... as a kid, I dealt with strabismus. I had to wear glasses until about 5th grade, and after that, I went through laser eye surgery to fix things. Since then, I haven't needed glasses at all—not then, and certainly not now.

However, even now, that surgery is causing me some headaches, so I'm wondering if there's any way to address it.

Professionally speaking, I'm a driver... I hold my Class C and CE licenses, but my real goal is to drive buses. At one medical exam, a doctor actually asked me, "Why don't you just change careers?" which, obviously, isn't an option for me.

So, I'm turning to the medical professionals here to see if you can explain things to me.

The issue is... how does treating strabismus and weakened stereoscopic vision (resulting from the surgery) work? Is there any way for me to stay in this profession long-term? I want to get my CDL for buses (which is basically my life; everything I've done and every test I've passed has been to reach this point). What's the catch? Please, tell me... no matter how much I insist that it doesn't bother me or that I don't notice any issues, it's getting a bit frustrating. Driving a bus is my ultimate career goal. Right now, I'm driving a semi, and I've got about a year of experience under my belt... a car feels like nothing compared to this, yet I'm sitting at a medical exam being grilled over minor stereopsis issues and the strabismus I had as a child... it's exhausting.

Please, if you could just explain this and help me out, I'd appreciate it.

Dear sir,

Issues involving stereoscopic vision and amblyopia generally need to be addressed during childhood. That is to say,
if we are talking about amblyopia or underdeveloped stereopsis, it isn't something
that can be corrected once a patient has reached adulthood. I would certainly recommend scheduling an appointment with a strabologist.
