Achilles's tendon snapped right at the start of March, and after spending three weeks stuck in a walking boot, I finally kicked off physical therapy—which lasted another three weeks. So, all told, six weeks in, and I can walk on my own now (I even took the car out for a spin), though I’ve still got a noticeable limp, so the crutches aren't officially retired just yet. I honestly think the type of surgeon you end up with makes all the difference here—mine was pretty adamant about getting me back on my feet ASAP, so he only had me immobilized for three weeks instead of the usual six. Of course, "recovered" is a massive stretch... my leg still feels incredibly unstable, and my calf muscle has definitely seen better days.
