Picked up a used Alienware m15. The guy threw in a weak power adapter—it said Dell on it, so I didn't think twice about whether it was actually an OEM part. It was only 90W (19V, 4.74A). After a week, it died.
Now I'm hunting for a proper 150W adapter, which is what the authorized service center told me this model actually requires.
Does anyone happen to have one they’re willing to sell? The connector size is 5.5mm outer x 2.7mm inner diameter.
Also, could using such an underpowered adapter have damaged the laptop? It shut down several times while I was gaming, clearly because it couldn't pull enough juice. 😢
Naturally, the previous owner is washing his hands of the whole thing.
🤔
... if anyone wants to... help me extract the ink from this thing 🙂
The carriage is jammed and I can't get to the cartridges. Does anyone (specifically in the Chicago area) know how to open this up? Because I'm definitely not taking an axe to it 😉
Nope 😢. He can't even see Windows 10 on my end. System Configuration only shows Windows 7. Windows 7 is the main OS now, and he clearly hasn't realized Windows 10 exists yet. Even though they were born after Windows 7 😉 .
I had Windows 10 installed, then I went ahead and installed Windows 7 without formatting the drive or deleting anything. Now I’m sitting here with Windows 7, but I've changed my mind. 😵 I want to get rid of this version and go back to Windows 10.
Is there a way to do this without doing a full reinstall of Windows 10, since I didn't wipe the disk? How do I tell the computer to boot from Windows 10 instead of Windows 7? Is that even possible?
Does anyone know where I can pick up a ribbon for this old printer? Or if anyone has a spare lying around they don't need...
