Question for the video game subforum moderators in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Matthew Anderson said:I'll run this by the mods and let you know what we decide.

Thanks. 🙂 Seriously, if you ever make it out to one of our US meetups, the first beer is on me. 🙂

Appreciate you guys looking over the suggestion. 😉

Have a good night.

Look, if you’d actually scrolled through the thread, you’d see I opened this exact same topic back on June 6th, 2015, at 4:56 PM. Honestly, I can barely remember what I had for dinner last night, so thinking I’m out here running some elaborate alt-account scheme from eighteen months ago is a massive stretch. 😬

My bad if I got the wrong guy, but I'm telling you the truth here. I had zero posts on my account, and that was my first and last time posting because I already knew it would turn into a total shitshow.

At the end of the day, I think this discussion is about the bigger picture, not just some personal vendetta against "me."

Again, sorry if I misidentified you.

PS. If you decide to reopen that main thread, I promise I'll be a good citizen and play strictly by the rules.

Since this is your subforum, you might want to consider setting up some kind of "top threads" system or a pinned mega-thread version. Maybe something like how the classifieds work on Reddit—you could set a rule where people can only link the channel after reaching a certain post count, or maybe implement a cooldown period before they can post the same link again. Honestly, I think that would go over way better than people just spamming every single active subforum and dropping stuff in places where it clearly doesn't belong.

Matthew Anderson said:Could you drop the name of the clone account you used to start this thread? The one that got you banned right after posting this. Thanks.

Honestly, that’s a totally irrelevant detail. I don't even remember. It was ages ago, like over six months back. It just stuck in my head as a weird thing, so I started wondering about it.

Are you guys actually planning on looking into that idea for a PDF YouTube? Or is that whole concept dead in the water?

Me again. ^^

To make a long story short, a few months back I started a thread where I was basically "promoting" my YouTube channel. Result? A lifetime ban and having my thread nuked.

Well... just saw a similar situation today.

What’s the actual difference between me and this guy? Why didn't he get slapped with a permanent ban? 😬

Honestly, I think it's just because Matthew Anderson has a vendetta against me. 😛

Quick update: now that I'm digging through the archives, this kid is actually doing the exact same thing.

Like... dafaq guys??

I don't really care about one banned account. What bugs me is the fact that we aren't all playing by the same set of rules.

Addendum:

I still stand by the idea that we need a new PDF specifically for YouTube. If you bother to scroll through some subforums, you'll see a ton of threads that don't even belong there. Like in the Software section, everyone's hunting for a video editor. Then you go to video games, where you can clearly see people promoting themselves. Even the Google AdSense thread in the internet earnings PDF is absolutely flooded with channel links. There's a whole mess of subforums like that.

The second thing is that there isn't really a dedicated forum for this kind of stuff in the US, so creating one would bring in a bunch of new users. Let's be real, everyone is out for a buck, so... more users equals more revenue.

That's pretty much it from me for now. I'll check back in if I don't get banned and if anyone actually posts something intelligent. 😁
