Epson L310: Switching from original ink to pigment inks?

I was scrolling through some corners of the internet lately—and believe me, I’ve seen just about everything those sites have to offer—and kept seeing people swapping out their factory ink for pigment-based stuff.
Has anyone here on Reddit actually gone down that rabbit hole? Or maybe someone’s got some actual, useful advice before I go making a mess of things...
