My blood pressure doesn't spike at the doctor's office. I used to be terrified of the dentist as a kid, so I avoided them for years, but then one day I just decided enough was enough; I didn't want my mouth rotting out because of fear. Since then, I have zero anxiety about dentists—none at all. I've even gone to oral surgeons a few times just to get things handled properly.
My weakness over the last 15 years has been getting blood drawn. It practically triggers tinnitus and gradual vision loss, leading to fainting if I don't lie down. So, I just lie down beforehand to be safe, and everything goes fine; I just need about 15 minutes before I can stand up. I'm not squeamish, so it isn't about that, and it's not about being weak since my blood work is good. It doesn't even seem to depend on how much blood they take, so the cause has to be that sharp needle.😁 I tried thinking about other things while sitting for blood draws, but it didn't help... honestly, my blood pressure drops just thinking about the whole scene.
Steven Murphy2 said:I suppose people might feel the same way about me. I’ve had two ultrasounds and they came back fine, but I'm still worried. It’s crazy, but an ultrasound can't see something you can actually feel. If my tooth hurts, I go to the dentist; I’m not the type to just pretend everything is fine. So now, I guess I should just lie to myself and go have pointless talks with a psychiatrist or a psychologist or whatever. It just bothers me and I can't help it. I passed a psych eval not that long ago, too. The worst part is that nobody takes me seriously. I spent money on private specialists and got nothing. They insist there's nothing there, but I can feel it. It feels like if you fall down, bleed, and see blood, people are just trying to convince you that you aren't bleeding.
If it physically bothers you and causes pain, maybe look into different diagnostic tests. If it’s just anxiety and you’re prone to this kind of thing, then there's a higher chance it's psychosomatic. Not every imperfection on your body is a disease.
I once believed a nurse in an ER who told me a person couldn't suffocate from cataracts, unless they were elderly with a weak respiratory system. It's worrying. I guess there's no reason why someone wouldn't use suggestions to their own advantage instead of always against themselves.
I watched a good chunk of the Norway vs. France game, and I’d say those Norwegians insist on the fast break more than any other national team. They just refuse to slow down, and they execute it incredibly well. Honestly, the French couldn't even get set up half the time before the Norwegians would score a quick one. They have great shooters from the perimeter and use that momentum from the fast break to find the back of the net quite easily. Defensively, though, the Norwegians aren't all that impressive to me.
If our team can manage to get back into the mix, maybe if we at least limit their fast breaks—since I guess it's impossible to stop them entirely—then 70% of the job is done.
To offer some encouragement, Poland's defense was almost constantly tied up in an even match, and the Norwegians looked pretty vulnerable there, but that was just at the start of the tournament. They've only improved since then.
Predicting things is a thankless task, but I think our morale suits teams like this better—teams that don't have a concrete defense and actually allow us to score. That's when we hit that euphoria in our play and see more players performing with confidence.
The French are just playing machines, doing just enough to stay in control of the score.
I guess Norway showed more fight against the French than the Canadians did. Their offense seems way stronger than our neighbors, and they seem to get those fast breaks and transition plays more often.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm still not feeling optimistic, despite being up by four points and having an extra man on the field in the 40th minute.

I'm no forensic accountant, so I won't mess with the money side of things. I just look at the results. I'm superficial, I guess.
Chris Fisher3 said:I guess Norwegians seem more dangerous than Spaniards to me. Those guys look pretty limited, whereas the Norwegians really cover the field. Just my opinion, though.
And I can't see us being any less dangerous than the Spaniards... especially considering our mentality. If the Spaniards get knocked out, we'd probably still be pretty weak against the Norwegians.
Kyle Campbell4 said:So I guess that's supposed to be a positive thing about him, right?
It happened once, now we have to see how things go without him. I guess we'll see if fans will actually pack Rose Bowl or if they can even dominate the league anymore.
This isn't realistic, he was born lucky... there's no way he can repeat that first half, the other guys need to show some backbone. Just crush those Spanish losers!
If we manage to go up by two in the final five minutes, I guess I’ll start expecting a win, only to end up pissed off again when we freeze up and blow it.
