I’m hunting down the specific desk mat shown in this link for a project I'm working on:
If you jump to the 10-second mark in this video, you'll see the exact mat I've got my eye on.
Does anyone here actually know what kind of material this thing is made of? Like, where can I even track down the raw stuff? And more importantly, does anyone know a shop that can print a custom design onto a surface like this? Also, any idea on what I'd be looking at price-wise?
The description just calls it a "rubber mat pad," which isn't exactly helpful—I spent way too much time digging around online and honestly came up empty-handed with nothing useful...
🙂
Look, I’ll be the first to admit I’m completely out of my depth here, so I’m probably going to shut up before I say something even more ridiculous. But, just to clarify—because I did actually double-check what I wrote in my previous post—I was talking about those specific bottles that someone supposedly dug up from somewhere, like an old attic or a basement or whatever... I don't even know. Anyway, I’ve already reached out to some folks outside the US to see if they recognize anything, so we'll just have to wait and see if anyone actually gets back to me. Either way, thanks for bearing with me...
I have absolutely no clue where this whisky has been sitting all these years, but look, I’ve done my homework—scoured countless forums, even dug through some old English boards—and people are throwing around figures of $1,000 to $2,000 easily!!! And that’s for bottles even younger than mine. We’re talking about genuine finds, stuff tucked away in an attic or hidden in a basement for decades, so I’m telling you, there is no way my bottle is worth as little as you think it is!!! It really comes down to the fact that some folks are just obsessed; it’s their whole life, their passion, and they’ll drop a small fortune just to own a piece of that history. It’s kind of like how someone would pay a ridiculous amount of money just to get their hands on a jersey worn by Dražen Petrović that he tossed onto the court during some wild game and a fan managed to snag 🙂... maybe that’s a terrible comparison, but you get what I mean. As for whether the whisky actually gets better with age? Honestly, I don't know, science probably has an answer, but I am certain that cracking open a 40-year-old bottle has a certain magic to it that you just can't replicate...
Look, I honestly haven't made up my mind yet, because the bottle itself is pretty old and still has that vintage wax seal on it, so I’m fairly certain there’s some real value here, which is why I'm just sitting tight and waiting for people to start hitting me up with offers before I make a call. I remember a buddy of mine mentioning that an old 50-year-old bottle of Ballantine's can fetch upwards of 50 $0.00... and while this isn't Ballantine's, it’s at least been around for about 35 years, but once someone actually shows up looking serious about buying it, I'll be a lot more specific regarding the exact age and all that jazz...
Sorry if this isn't quite the right corner of the internet for this kind of thing 🙂 ...but look, I’m sitting here staring at a bottle of 69-year-old Scotch Whisky Vat that’s been sitting around for maybe 35 years now, and honestly? It breaks my heart just thinking about cracking it open myself. I know there are collectors out there—people who actually respect the history and the craft behind stuff like this—who would absolutely love to have it as the centerpiece of their home bar. So, if you happen to know anyone with that kind of taste, please, do me a favor and reach out!!!
Thanks... enjoy yourselves...
