I can breathe super well now through the nostril I couldn't use before, but I'm still having trouble breathing through the one I never had issues with, and it's already been a whole month 😕
Kimberly Hughes17 said:Honestly, you aren't doing anything wrong... I think it's totally normal for things to work this way. It’ll probably take a few more days where it gets slightly congested and then clears up again while the mucosa heals and completely cleans itself out..
Everything mentioned here is true, but Zgaljardic performs the open technique for everyone (a girl was asking about him), so I honestly don't get why 🤷 I mean, surely it can't be that everyone is some kind of difficult case for him 😉 Recovery takes longer with the open technique because that swelling can linger for anywhere from a year to three years, whereas with the closed technique, you're looking at 6 to 12 months. But honestly, if an open approach means a better result, it's totally worth it rather than going closed and having to deal with revisions later. ☕
Kimberly Hughes17 said:The technique the doctor chooses depends entirely on your specific issue—at least, that's how it should work. Nowadays, most corrections are done using the closed technique, which is super !! since it doesn't leave a scar, but if you have issues with the tip of your nose, then the open technique is definitely your best bet because it gives them full control over all the nasal structures... Personally, I think the recovery is more or less the same... maybe even slightly longer with the closed technique because the internal structures in the nose get more "traumatized," so it takes a bit more time for that swelling to go down..
I’ve got a bump on my nose too, hm, it’s actually pretty great 🙂 though honestly, Miami is a top-tier place for nose surgery. Then again, if you really want a bump, why bother fixing it? It’s not like it's easy to manufacture one from scratch! hahaha 🙂
briskmason42 said:So here I am, writing this: 🙂 after my surgery in the States, my nose looks terrible 🙂 does anyone else here still have a bump left on their nose? 😢
My advice on going private 🙂 I ended up in the hospital and everything went south 🙂 now I'm just waiting six months so I can finally get my corrective surgery, but time is dragging so slowly 🙂
Bagatin and Zgaljardic mostly do open surgery, which personally terrifies me. Davor Đepina offers a good price at 1800 dollars, and Toncic is about the same, so I'm torn between Glusac and Đepina. Glusac hasn't given me a quote yet, so I'm not sure, but I know it ranges from 11000-$5000 depending on how complex the procedure is

New to the forum... HELP

I'm still on the fence; should I go private or not?
The more I read, the more confused I get... 🤷

Does anyone here have experience with the Bagatin clinic or Dr. Zgaljardic?
16 $0.00 at Bagatin... and I'm just a college student🙂

What are your experiences regarding value for money (price vs. quality)?!
Thanks!!
Is it just me, or has everyone gone totally silent? Is nobody getting surgery anymore? 😢😢
Please, I really need some help! 🙂 Has anyone here had recent surgery with Dr. Glusac or Dr. Davor Đepina? I'm really curious to hear about your experiences. 🤷
I know it’s early, but honestly, I don't think there's any chance this just disappears on its own. My surgery was done pretty sloppily 😢 I have really thin skin too, which is exactly why you have to be extra careful

It's way too early to start worrying.
Trust me, I went through two surgeries myself. After the first one, where it was immediately obvious my nose was leaning TO THE SIDE (it was huge, not to mention all the other issues), it was clear the job had been botched.
After the second one, my nose was straight but MASSIVE—just long and terrifyingly weird. And yeah, there was also some kind of "bump." That’s how it looked for a solid 3 or 4 months, until you eventually just "get used to it." A year later, it looked completely different. Now, it's been a year and 10 months since my surgery (so almost 2 years), and just these past few days, I've noticed that the "bump" has leveled out; it's gone! Only now have the grafts finally softened up, and my nose actually looks smaller, like, a normal size. Right after the surgery, it was so long I looked like a stork, but now it's quite short. And keep in mind, I have very thin skin.
So, look, there's hope that you'll be happy with the result. I know it's incredibly hard to hold onto hope when things feel impossible right now, but believe me, things ALWAYS eventually settle down and correct themselves. There’s a reason why doctors tell you to wait at least 2 years before judging the final result.
I just booked a consultation with Dr. Glusac in Miami for this coming Monday. He was absolutely fuming when we spoke—he says he’s constantly having the same run-ins with the hospital! Apparently, he’s already had to fix three different cases behind the hospital's back just this week 😠 I'm honestly not sure what my other options are since there are so many doctors out there and people seem pretty unhappy with them, but I'm going to see what he suggests. I'm starting my search with him 🙂
I am... how did your nose turn out?

@Nicole Ortiz34/">@@Nicole Ortiz34, are you that girl I was chatting with at the main entrance on the day I was being discharged and you were being admitted to the hospital?
I’m really hoping things turn out just like you say 😢 My nose has been swollen all day today—I definitely noticed it—so I’m praying it settles down soon because this is driving me crazy 🙂, and the doctor basically told me it feels soft to him, but if it doesn't improve, we'll have to head back in 🙂 Plus, a few days ago my little niece accidentally smacked me right on the nose, which honestly made me panic that everything might get messed up

Sam Kim12 said:I can see you're being persistent.

Of course you aren't seeing a change yet! Whether you think it looks better or you feel like your nose is swollen, it's obvious you're noticing it, and there's no way your nose looks exactly the same three weeks after surgery as it did before 😉 Some parts are more swollen (in your case, the tip) while other areas are less so (the whole nose), and you won't truly see the final result until about 6 months—maybe even a year—has passed.

Take my experience for example: after two months, my nose looked amazing and nobody could tell I'd had anything done. But fast forward 9 months since my surgery, and I still have this tiny bit of swelling at the bridge (between my eyebrows) and on the left side (because of some internal scarring). It's minimal, but yeah, things haven't fully returned to "normal" yet, which is actually totally standard.
You can't really see any swelling anywhere except at the tip, but I’m honestly crossing my fingers that it's just my imagination and that it’ll shrink down at least a little bit from how it looks right now. As for fixing the hump, I'm honestly not sure if this procedure will do the trick... If I have to go back under the knife specifically for the hump, then yeah, I'll definitely have them shave the tip down a bit more too, because right now it doesn't look like anything was actually done other than adding a little decorative feature (the hump) to my slide! 🙂
Sam Kim12 said:It's totally normal for your nose to be swollen, and honestly, saying the rest of your nose isn't swollen anymore sounds like you're just kidding yourself—there's no way the rest could return to its original state that fast😉. It's just how it feels right now, and in 3-4 months, you'll see exactly why I'm saying that😁.
Why would you need a second surgery?
I sent you a DM

Thanks
The tip of my nose is swollen, so I honestly feel like it needs to be reduced since it looks exactly the same as before. OP 😢 At least I'm hoping they'll actually do it... but right now, what I've got is this bump that really stands out in profile view 🙂

It’s been exactly 3 weeks now. The tip is still swollen, but everything else seems to have settled down. Honestly, I look pretty terrible right now, and the worst part is knowing I have to wait another 6 months for the revision surgery. 😢Having a worse nose after surgery is just devastating—it’s absolutely awful. When I go back to see the doctor, they’re going to hear me out! I’m seriously considering suing for emotional distress and because of how awful I look physically :/ It looks exactly the same, except now the hump is even more pronounced. A total masterpiece, really.

🙂
My nose isn't swollen anymore, but that bump is still hanging out there... It's just so hard, and honestly, it looks even bigger and more noticeable than before. I am DYING! I know I’ll eventually have to go back for a touch-up, because apparently, I'm just one of those lucky people 😢
Olivia Gonzalez17 said:Don't lose hope! I'm in the exact same boat. Right after they took my cast off, my nose looked perfect, but then the very next morning, the bump was right back there, swollen all over... Usually, things should start settling down after two months. Mine hasn't quite cleared up yet, but I can feel it getting better and better every single day.😉
I recently had rhinoplasty in Miami... I was honestly so happy on the first day! My nose looked a bit smaller and everything seemed perfect, but then the next day, that little bump I used to have showed up again. My nose looks just as long as it did before, and now I’m feeling totally devastated. 🙂 I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with a bump reappearing? Do you think the swelling will go down, or am I going to need a revision surgery? 🤷 I'm just so heartbroken and overwhelmed right now.
I recently had surgery in Miami, and honestly, the doctors, nurses, and the whole unit were just top-notch. I can't recommend them enough—definitely don't be afraid! 🙂
Austin Adams5 said:I have to go in for a minor procedure soon because of a deviated septum here in Miami. I’m really curious about anyone's experiences. My doctor mentioned I don't strictly *have* to do it right this second, but he highly recommends it. He also said I'd need to stay in the hospital for about 5 days after the surgery :O ....

One side of my nostril is way too narrow, and breathing through my nose is such a struggle—I feel like I'm breathing through my mouth constantly.

My biggest worry is that my nose might end up looking crooked after the surgery. 😢
I wanted to jump in and brag a little bit about my new, beautiful nose! I have to give a massive shout-out to the Mayo Clinic—they were absolutely incredible. Dr. Račić performed my surgery and he is such a fantastic doctor. Honestly, the entire staff was just wonderful; everything was perfect and I can't praise them enough! super !! 🙂
Quote : cro said:Hey everyone! Since I’ve spent quite a bit of time reading through all the info on this forum lately, I figured it was finally time for me to jump in and share my own fresh experience with you all. 🙂

I was admitted to the Mayo Clinic on February 4th, but since my period ended right at the end, they actually sent me home until Tuesday evening (Feb 5th) just to make sure everything stabilized. As soon as I got back to my room that night, I noticed the anesthesiologist had prescribed those abdominal injections to prevent blood clots, plus all that leg wrapping to ward off thrombosis before surgery. They started the shots immediately, and I kept getting them right up until the moment I was discharged. The night before, they also gave me some Apaurin to take orally—one for the evening and one for the morning. I was wheeled into the OR just before 2:00 PM, and by 3:10 PM, I was waking up on the way back to my room. Dr. Cikojević performed my septoplasty and removed the hump. They put Voltaren straight into my IV immediately, but honestly, I didn't sleep a wink that first night—probably because the air was so incredibly dry and I was struggling to adjust to breathing through my mouth. By the next day, the area around my eyes was so swollen and red I could barely see! Luckily, they gave me two Solu-Medrol injections for that. Afterward, I didn't really feel any actual pain; the main thing is just this intense discomfort and pressure in your nose from everything being packed in there. I’ve been taking Advil granules in the morning and evening just to take the edge off. On the fifth day after surgery, they finally removed the packing and gauze. It doesn't hurt, but man, it is seriously uncomfortable. Honestly, what hurt way more was having that cast removed after it stuck to my face, and then the whole process of putting it back on and having my nose squeezed. 😲
I’ve finally been discharged! I'm heading home now, but I have to stay on top of my nasal rinses using Sterimar—I've been mixing that with regular saline. On top of that, I need to spray Gelositin three times a day. My follow-up appointment to get this cast removed is scheduled for eight days from now, and honestly, I haven't felt any pain at all!
It feels so incredibly good to finally breathe again! Now that they've removed the tampons, I can just exhale through my nose so easily. Everything feels completely clear and open inside. 👍 I'm still a little bruised and swollen, but honestly, I feel better every single day!
Huge thanks to the doctor and the entire staff on the unit! Everything was just wonderful. 😍
Ed, my sense of smell feels way more intense than it used to be, too! 👍

Thanks so much for the comfort 😉

I sent you a PM. Help meeeee! 😢
Sandra Peterson74 said:I actually saw Dr. Račić if that helps anyone out... and honestly, I wasn't happy with the experience. It wasn't just me, either—all four aunts in the room with me felt the exact same way. 😉
