Unfortunately, we live in a dysfunctional nation where expecting legal reforms or public initiatives to fix this is pure fantasy. It is common knowledge that the Executive brings in these foreign players primarily as a vehicle to siphon money out of the club; half of their salary often finds its way back to him. For instance, one player might receive $450,000 only to kick back $150,000. These deals are almost always funneled through the same two or three agents. While the coffers were filled by lucrative transfers in the past, those days are over. No club will be able to sustain the absurd figures reported by the local tabloids anymore, mostly because those high salaries weren't even about talent, but rather our reputation as a convenient hub for money laundering. Once he finally exits, he will leave the club facing a deficit of well over $10 million. His current behavior is a deliberate attempt to sow discord and chaos just to ensure a clean getaway. That is why he is currently hiring former security personnel through various agencies to act as his personal guard while he moves through New York City.
