Have you even been watching any of the US Open?

I've got my own little treat 😁—wild berry, vanilla, and punch 👋

I want a treat too image

Honestly, I hope they throw a few drops down there—just enough to spice things up for the race.😁

I’m expecting Lotus to start closing the gap on McLaren 👋—though honestly, if they could just stop tripping over themselves, that would be a good start. 😁

"It’s clear that people in California are mentally stuck in the 1800s.

And I’d bet my life savings that those complaining about Gay Pride parades are just projecting their issues onto some random Californian while pretending to be devout Catholics in public."

One person gets worked up, another doesn't—it's all the same to me. At least I'm learning something during these late-night bans.

Why would a group of queers even march through the city in the first place?
I honestly don't get how these pride parades even got started.

I watched a good chunk of that 1966 World Cup final—you know, the one between England and West Germany—and honestly, I couldn't find a single trace of what I was looking for. Not even close. But fine, I guess that was just your point about how they used to play differently 👍. Maybe there’s an older match buried somewhere on YouTube. Or perhaps you could suggest one where that famous style of theirs actually shines through?

Here’s Franz Beckenbauer’s take on a relatively recent matchup from the 2010 World Cup: England versus the USA
:
"what I saw from the english in their 1-1 draw against the united states had very little to do with football"
"it looked to me as if the english have gone backwards into the bad old times of kick and rush"

link

By the way, Fabio Capello was coaching the English side back then. Sadly, all I could find on YouTube were the highlights from our perspective.

@grifone, I've been digging through Wikipedia myself, but no luck—the whole "long ball" concept didn't even cross my mind 😁 thanks 👍

The "kick and rush" style—that classic, old-school American soccer approach—definitely defined an era of the game here
...but finding actual substance about it online is a struggle; there’s almost
nothing out there.

We all have a general idea: it was just frantic lunging and long balls, where the midfield role basically didn't exist.
Nowadays, you mostly hear those terms used when a team is chasing a goal—they stop trying to build any kind of rhythm and just boot the ball straight into the opponent's
penalty area. It feels impossible to imagine a full ninety minutes being played that way today—especially
if both sides were playing with that level of desperation...it's just not how the modern game works,
not even for a single club, let alone 😁

I'm looking for some insight into this vintage American soccer era—the timelines, the players, and what I'm
really after is how much it actually influenced the tactical styles over in Europe. If anyone has links, please share.
