Hello,
Let me start from square one. About 15 months ago, I was hit with intense frontal headaches and a constant sense of lightheadedness—mostly disorientation and trouble focusing. It turned out to be sinus inflammation combined with a deviated septum. I started using nasal sprays, which helped dull the headaches, but the dizziness and brain fog just wouldn't budge. Eleven months ago, a persistent pain started radiating through my cheeks. It wasn't excruciating, but it was constant, especially since I've always struggled to breathe through my nose. Given the chronic sinus issues, we assumed the pain was coming from the maxillary sinuses.
Four months ago, I underwent surgery to correct the deviated septum and clear out the sinuses. While breathing is easier now, nothing feels right. The real issue is this facial pain; it has been a constant companion for 11 months straight—not even pausing for ten minutes—and it has actually intensified lately. No amount of painkillers helps. That lingering sense of confusion and inability to focus is also ever-present.
My brain and sinus MRI came back clean. An EEG showed slightly reduced blood flow to the left side of my brain, but my neurologist insists that shouldn't be an issue. Furthermore, my sinuses are completely clear now, and two different ENT specialists have told me the pain can't be sinus-related. I also had an X-ray of my cervical spine which showed hypolordosis, though my doctor doesn't believe that would cause constant facial pain.
Describing this facial pain is difficult. It’s there 24/7, feeling like a heavy pressure. Any kind of physical activity, no matter how minor, causes it to flare up into a burning sensation that spreads across my entire face.
I am still undergoing tests and waiting for consultations with a maxillofacial surgeon and for emng... I'm only 24, but I spend 10 to 12 hours a day at my computer, and I need to be able to concentrate on my work, which is becoming increasingly impossible.
So, I'm wondering if anyone here has dealt with anything similar or has any insight into what this could be?
