GPU Buying Guide - (Read first post) in Desktops ·
Timothy Kim60 said:It’s basically a 750Ti—except that thing would actually need to still be under warranty. It's more efficient (uses less juice, performs better), but honestly? For that kind of cash, you could probably hunt down a beefier HD7870 or an AMD Radeon R9 270 instead.

Also, what kind of CPU and PSU are we talking about here? Give me the actual model names.

Look, the power supply and the processor aren't going to be the bottleneck for the GPU performance here—a Seagate BarraCuda setup was handling way heavier loads than this🙂 and it's screaming through a 4x3.0 bus🙂
I was just wondering if that pricier option was actually worth the money.

I need some advice on picking between two cards—both are used and definitely out of warranty.

An XFX 6850 with 1GB GDDR5 and a 256-bit bus $167, or a
Gainward NVIDIA GTX 750 Ti with 2GB GDDR5 and a 128-bit bus $267.

The kids are finally getting into gaming 🙂

so I'd probably drop about $30 or $40...
I saw over on some tech site that the GeForce 6200 goes for roughly $25-$30.
And checking other forums, people aren't really raving about the 7600GT—it’s way too pricey for a used card, let alone buying one brand new.
It’s obviously not going to struggle to run Diablo 2, but still, I just want a decent GPU—like I said before—just something that actually does its job.

Recently picked up a Gainward 6600GT for about $15. It's a pretty solid little card—has a DVI port which I'm using to hook it up to my LCD TV.👍
